"Demolition will be conducted by Carleton Cos. of Mankato and is expected to take about three months. I think they're prepping and removing some items that may be valuable. They were on the roof at the little building working a bit ago. There were cars parking there last week.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

If an electric motor counts as a motor they would be? But, I think I've read they're allowed if they have a top speed of 15mph or etc. Basically, if they behave like a bicycle they are allowed on the bicycle infrastructure I think is the legal logic. I know not all the electric bikes out there adher...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I've noticed a lot of scooters/mopeds/whatever on the 3rd Ave Bike Lanes. One rider today insisted she was allowed to ride in the bike lanes. I tried looking this up on the city's website and etc. and couldn't find anything. The city linked to a state law that said no motor vehicles in the bike lane...

Portland Towers isn't very attractive either. Maybe this was just Stanton's taste in design?

Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site

On Saturday I returned to Minneapolis from Rochester via 52/55 and when I got to Lake it was great to see all the density that has been built up. I felt like my first urban welcome as I entered the city.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

I wonder if this could be reviving a Century Plaza / convention center development. Please, please, please let this be the case, it makes almost too much sense. Hollow it out by taking out the parking ramp in the center and build a nice glassy tower growing out of that. Use the current building as ...

Re: Downtown Hotel News

Louisville Kentucky got an Omni hotel and they're the 43rd largest metro area. Why not us?

Re: Downtown Hotel News

The "empty" block across from the Campbell Mithun building would be a good location for this. Close to the Convention Center, connected to the skyway easily and not far from Dowtown East (the new Finnegans is closeby) or the core.

I think the backhoe was for taking down the billboard. I saw them taking it down a couple days ago.

They seem driven by spreadsheets and their numbers. At least from the exterior the building doesn't even appear to be luxury level quality.

Re: 365 Nicollet (334' - 30 stories)

It seems that closer this building gets to completion more I hate the look of the concrete. Especially on the 3rd St. side. The black concrete near the library looks terrible and the rest of that side of the building seems to have had little thought put into it.

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)

It's not terrible. I like how the lobby is oriented toward the plaza. If done right it might be a nice connection between the Skyways and Nicollet Mall.

Seeing how they've redone Block E, and the St. Paul Macy's fixing the exterior shouldn't be terribly difficult. What are the chances the mall section is ever torn down and replaced by another tower?

Re: Minneapolis Density and Population Growth (500k, etc)

Like many on here, I’m not a huge fan of interstates and how they divide the urban landscape. An idea I’ve had that’s between a cap and the status quo is to work some of the excess MnDot land back into the city by developing it. For example through North Minneapolis why not take the majority of the ...

Re: City Club Apartments - 1000 Marquette Ave (Handicraft Building)

Given that this building has mixed incomes and more units per square foot can we also assume it will have more tenants per square foot? I say this because yesterday I was at the library imagining a bunch of people living and coming in and out of the Nicollet 365 project. But, then I remembered that ...
