Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Not sure if it'll speed up the SWLRT by much, but If the outbreak had happened two summers ago, I think they might of been able to close 35W down completely for the Orange Line/Downtown to Crosstown project (or at least save a lot of headaches with how much of a mess that was)

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image

I kinda think the hospitalization rate right might be a little more accurate in terms of the overall spread albeit 1-2 weeks behind when factoring the incubation period since it doesn't really matter if you screwed up testing if you need to be hospitalized because of Covid-19 at that point. Know If ...

Re: Work from home and road congestion

You know I wonder if construction on some project might speed up a little given the low traffic levels making it easier to do more extensive work.

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar

Two quick things scrolling through the last few pages Wasn't the whole talk of the Nicollet streetcar halted in the first place over the potential backlash over having to reconstruct the mall again so soon after it just reopened? You can argue that the reconstruction should of included the streetcar...

Re: Mall of America Transit Station

A small little development, but it looks like the MOA Transit Station is getting a Caribou. Would love to see more stuff like this around our transit stations. https://twitter.com/mallofamerica/status/1229842090852528134 So combined with the caribou at target field that makes 2 out of 37 lrt statio...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Very interested to see what happens with their express routes and the ridership between the two if/when they keep them. Not something I would use much anymore, but I’m still annoyed Metro Transit nerfed the off peak 94 to put people on the slower train. If urban users were forced into that, southwe...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

I wonder how many of these routes will come to pass in the 5-6 years since they where first made Still say the 12 will be completely cut and replace it with the 612 (though I'm somewhat willing to say they should keep the 12 number for the route) 17 extended to Blake Rd. Station makes sense given th...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

I think I remember some people saying that the frequency of the 612 might be upped from a bus every 30 mins to one every 15 as well as maybe rerouting it in some of the circles, but I haven't really seen an official statement. I'm also somewhat expecting the 12 to be cut but that's mainly due to the...

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and Intercity Rail to Chicago

Not totally sure where to post this, but searching for keywords "St. Louis Chicago Rail" mostly pulled up this thread. A few weeks ago family from the St. Louis area mentioned that the upgrade to supposed high-speed rail to Chicago still wasn't finished. I was initially skeptical, because I know th...

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and Intercity Rail to Chicago

https://twitter.com/ByJanetMoore/status/1217571661224054784 I don't quite get how there can be $10M of environmental and design work for extending two Hiawatha trips from Milwaukee to St Paul (according to the feasibility study from like a decade ago), but, hey, potential progress! Many years ago I...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

With regards to the ticket machine maintenance, I've said it before and I'll say it again but I wish metro would push card and app payments more in the hopes of phasing out the ticket machines to an extent since they seem to cost less to maintain and offer the added benefits of offering more flexibl...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

I'm pretty sure I am in the minority on the forum by kinda disagrees in just making Metro Transit completely free since while most people say the fare box recovery ratio is so small that it would be better to just fully subsidize it, I do think it might be worth while taking steps to improve it sinc...

Walkability in Greater MN

I've been thinking about this idea for a while now. I'm pretty sure everyone here agrees that promoting walkabilty and other smart growth related ideas (Mixed land use, sense of place, TOD, etc.) in the metro is a good thing, but I wonder if the same could be said about Greater MN. And when I say Gr...

Re: Fantasy maps

Since we're in fantasy mode... What if we extended Southwest LRT via existing HCRRA/MnDOT rights-of-way (mostly the old railroad grade to Chaska) with split service to Downtown Chaska and Downtown Shakopee? Those two downtowns are two of the seven county seats in our metro area, and they could rela...

Re: Hopkins - General Topics

Huh, wonder how this happened. Don't know who's at fault for this, kinda just seems like a miscommunication between all three parties. I just hope they clear it up and get everything settled because because I have heard a few rumors that Doran might be interested in developing other areas in Hopkins...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

Just heard that the 4th Avenue and 10th Street to I-35W southbound ramp is opening today 2 years ahead of schedule.
Didn't have a chance to get the full story this morning so anyone know more detail about it and how it effects the rest of the project?

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

This is interesting and I wonder who is paying for it and what would have happened if SWLRT wasn't a thing. I´m gonna guess the bridge would of been repaired eventually but but it would depend on how good TC&W are usually with keeping their tracks in decent condition. As for why there doing it as s...

I assumed the ebikes where gonna be docked given they might cost a little to much to just left standing free, was just putting out a hopthetical question if we ever do get dockless ebikes.
