Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

wondering anyone know how long the paperwork part (studies, environment impact documents, engineering designs, etc.) of the SWLRT is good for till it needs to be renewed? Cause if we can safely wait a while I'm starting to think putting the actual construction phase on hold till a) price of steel an...

Re: Fantasy maps

I knew abut about the Artery, just accidentally put it on 6th (so the Bike Boulevard/on street cycle lanes I have on 6th would've been on 8th as well) Forgot about the trail between 5th and 9th, if I make an updated version might extended it to either central park or shady oak road (tempted to exten...

Re: Fantasy maps

So had an Idea for for a little fantasy bike map. bit bare bones but to be fair I only spent a few minuets on it (chose the Hopkins area simply cause I've spent years bilking in the area) https://i.imgur.com/wm5tl5d.jpg Dark green represents trails/separated cycle lanes light green represents Bike B...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Had a bit of a discussion while biking with my dad this morning about whether or not it would be worth it to pave some of the limestone trails such as as the Lake Minnetonka LRT, the MN River Bluffs LRT, the western half of the luce line, etc. On one hand it would attract a lot more bikers/walkers t...

Re: Freight Rail News and Happenings

Had a bit of a discussion with involving railroad crossings involving a certain line and it got me wondering, anyone know how maintenance for railroad crossings are paid for, is it threw MNdot, the railroad company, individual counties, etc.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

The only reason why I was ok with the Kenilworth route is I was under the assumption Metro/hennepin county owned the corridor and when the the tracks it the greenway got removed, cutting off TC&W's main line to get to the city, they allowed them to operate in the the kenilworth "temporarily" while t...

Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics

But it was a big deal to lure a theater back into St. Louis Park after The Cooper closed. It was pretty nice but a few years after this opened the stadium seating phenomenon popped up and this fell behind relevance pretty fast. Willow Creek remodeled but Mann just never felt like they cared. I hope...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail

this is starting to make me wonder in the off chance this pulls threw what that timetable between St. Cloud and Minneapolis would be. I believe the normal drive time is between 1 hour- 1 hour 15 mins and given how its about 52 mins to Big Lake I doubt any extension would be faster than driving outsi...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

The Government Accountability Office will be investigating why US transit projects, most notably subways, cost so much more than those in other developed nations. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/28/nyregion/new-york-subway-construction-costs-congress.html since the mentioned the 2nd avenue subway I...

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image

So got curious about how other countries viewed Minnesota, so starting translating "Minnesota" in a variety of different languages with google translate ad pasting it into google/youtube, long story short found a 4 part travel thing from Japan about Minnesota part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: Hopkins - General Topics

the only real shade I can throw at the artery is that when its a nice day like it was today, walkers seem to ignore the cycle track and sidewalk separation and walk where ever they want (think I heard someone mutter bikes aren't allowed on the sidewalk when I biked by), hopefully this will go away o...

Re: Fantasy maps

Like I said a good twice as many maybe more (so 28+ routes that cross the 494 belt), so a long way off even for fantasy maps.
I wasn't suggesting it stay on the 494 belt at all times but loosely follow it to connect to local stations near the belt.

Re: Fantasy maps

After looking at some of the transit maps both new and old, I'm starting to wonder if a transit line could be added on the 494 loop with buses/trains running clockwise and counter clockwise. I only suggest this since if we every get more transit lines lines going out to the suburbs (think twice as m...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

are we talking about buying all of TCW that includes the odd 160+ miles of track to Appleton (plus some additional track here and there) or just the portion in Minneapolis. Since the main argument coming from TCW boils down to the SWLRT potentially slowing down their trains in the kenilworth corrido...

Re: Hopkins - General Topics

I was mainly referring to the Luther triangle which like I said probably to small to put in anything notable (could possible make it a green space or something for people to use) And if your referring to the Village Apartments as the 11 story tower, I think the only reason why people let that slide ...
