Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Table 5-2 in the document you linked has the station by station breakdown. Hmm, seeing it broken down that way makes me suspect that these might not be including time at stations, which could add pretty significantly to the total trip. If that's the case, anyone got a good estimate to how long a tr...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

With regards to how SWLRT will fare against express/standard buses, its important to point out that the latter only has better time if your going from end to end but some of the stops in between it seems like the former will be the better option Tried making a (very) rough estimated of how long it w...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

While on the subject of changes in regulation in terms of weight requirements, is there any additional regulations that artificially increase the weight of freight locomotives/cars as well?

Re: Hopkins - General Topics

Was going through the Hopkins 2040 plan and noticed under goal 2 Accommodating Growth (page 103) they have a little bullet point saying "Encourage an anchor development at the east end of Mainstreet that supports transit and complements Downtown Hopkins." Since this is one of the few planned project...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

For a while the Met Council was counting X number of developments of some total value along the Green Line. I think there was some wishful counting among the developments in that some would have happened regardless. There are certainly some developments, like The Moline, which have finished already...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

You know with swlrt finally seems to be moving forward I kinda have an idea for an article Go to each station site and see what is currently there and what is proposed to be there eventually in a x mile radius. Ever year or so (maybe less) go back to each station site and see if anything has changed...

Re: Northern Lights Express

So what I'm getting from the article is that the test had two stops a parking lot 8 miles away and somewhere in downtown Duluth (interesting they don't mention if the second stop was at the NSSR station) for about a week. Though I'm still wondering how frequent they made the train (ever hour, every ...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail

Could that charity be Metro Transit and reducing local bus service reductions? Why not towards the charity of extending the line to st. cloud. But in all seriousness I wonder if MT started doing special event/charter trains every so often (not counting the sports trains), would it be able to improv...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail

Wonder if there gonna change anything from the experiences from last year, maybe try to squeeze in an extra car or come up with a better plan to how to handle 1,000-1,500 people going through SPUDs platform gate than just hope for the best. Also anyone planning another Streets.mn group trip?

I wonder when they go forward with construction with the water park, will end up speeding up construction on the MOA Transit Station remodel or end up delaying it.

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar

hmm I might be keeping an eye on this.
Also the article got me wondering, did TCRT have any significant stops/station buildings at or near Fort Snelling? Cause if there was one it might be a little neat if they could recreate it with some added amenities.

Re: E Line ABRT

One question concerning extending the E line to southdale. Would it be better to run it on France, Xerxes, or a mix of both also do we leave out some stops on the 6 like the stops on wooddale and the stops south of southdale?

Re: Hopkins - General Topics

Doing some rough estimated on the little math problem they gave at the end: + 25 seats/3 per spot= 8.33333333 parking spaces + 960 sq ft/250 sq ft per 1 spot = 3.84 parking spaces + 2 on-street parking spaces + 1 parking space for a bike rack + 2 parking spaces because they are within 1/4 mile of a ...

Re: Hopkins - General Topics

I went to the Hopkins Farmers Market yesterday for the first time, and it was just so lovely how the downtown area feels so alive & vibrant. What a huge change from 20 years ago when it was a ghost town. It has been noticeable in the past few years and it certainly feels like there's a lot less vac...

Re: Suburbs - General Topics

Honestly I'm not really that bothered by it since I kind rather see more development in the inner ring suburbs to improve density then gradually expand to the outer rings as apposed to just randomly place down pockets of development surrounded by nothing where the only feasible way to get there is t...

Re: Las Vegas

If the folks at brightline ever get interested in a route involving the twin cities, I'm actually willing to bet they might choose a route connecting to Eau Claire or Rochester for two reasons: The first is based on how the Las Vegas to South California route iirc wasn't one of the routes brightline...
