Re: Twin Cities to Eau Claire regional rail

But now that I think about it, I agree a commuter line from Minneapolis and St. Paul to Stillwater would work with maybe ...

Re: Twin Cities to Eau Claire regional rail

didn't know about the old Stillwater spur so decided to look into it and made a quick drawing of it Green is the main line that the Eau Claire train would use, orange is the ROW that still has some track, and yellow is the ROW that doesn't (pretty sure its a bike trail now) https://i.imgur.com/ZU2Wk...

Re: Twin Cities to Eau Claire regional rail

I wonder if its just a Strib reporting error about the group wanting to get a station in Stillwater, or if they still plan on adding one I'm scratching my head a little to how their gonna try to pull that off since iirc there isn't any tracks that go through Stillwater

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar

Honestly if there going for streetcars on Nicollet I say see if they can't borrow some of the old heritage cars from MSM once in a while or better yet recreate some of the old TCRT fleet but upgrade them with modern equipment.

Re: Latest Census Estimates and Met Council Projections

Decided to make another density chart, this time for Ramsey County (if anyone else wants me to do one of the other metro counties just ask). https://i.imgur.com/q5gkoo1.png Top 5 in terms of density: St. Paul: 5,948 per sq. mi. (surprisingly wasn't in 2010) Lauderdale: 5,776 per sq. mi. North St. Pa...

Re: Latest Census Estimates and Met Council Projections

so decided to use the new population estimations and make a density portion, (calculated based on available land of a city i.e. no water) only did the cites/townships in Hennepinn county (someone else is more welcome to do the rest) https://i.imgur.com/08Db7aO.png The top 5 densest cities in Hennepi...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

wondering anyone know how long the paperwork part (studies, environment impact documents, engineering designs, etc.) of the SWLRT is good for till it needs to be renewed? Cause if we can safely wait a while I'm starting to think putting the actual construction phase on hold till a) price of steel an...

Re: Fantasy maps

I knew abut about the Artery, just accidentally put it on 6th (so the Bike Boulevard/on street cycle lanes I have on 6th would've been on 8th as well) Forgot about the trail between 5th and 9th, if I make an updated version might extended it to either central park or shady oak road (tempted to exten...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Had a bit of a discussion while biking with my dad this morning about whether or not it would be worth it to pave some of the limestone trails such as as the Lake Minnetonka LRT, the MN River Bluffs LRT, the western half of the luce line, etc. On one hand it would attract a lot more bikers/walkers t...

Re: Freight Rail News and Happenings

Had a bit of a discussion with involving railroad crossings involving a certain line and it got me wondering, anyone know how maintenance for railroad crossings are paid for, is it threw MNdot, the railroad company, individual counties, etc.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

The only reason why I was ok with the Kenilworth route is I was under the assumption Metro/hennepin county owned the corridor and when the the tracks it the greenway got removed, cutting off TC&W's main line to get to the city, they allowed them to operate in the the kenilworth "temporarily" while t...

Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics

But it was a big deal to lure a theater back into St. Louis Park after The Cooper closed. It was pretty nice but a few years after this opened the stadium seating phenomenon popped up and this fell behind relevance pretty fast. Willow Creek remodeled but Mann just never felt like they cared. I hope...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail

this is starting to make me wonder in the off chance this pulls threw what that timetable between St. Cloud and Minneapolis would be. I believe the normal drive time is between 1 hour- 1 hour 15 mins and given how its about 52 mins to Big Lake I doubt any extension would be faster than driving outsi...
