Re: MSP Airport

Honestly, I'm baffled about why the underground people mover wasn't extended to the other end of the new parking ramp. It would have given better access to that entire SE corner of the airport property for the current as well as potential future developments. Hotel would have been a clear winner.

Re: E Line Arterial BRT

Not excited to see that there won't be a stop on the riverfront (e.g. Hennenpin/1st and 2nd or Main) not great for access to those destinations or transfer options in NE. Central & University/4th are both pretty hostile intersections and I don't trust MNDOT to improve them anytime soon (even wit...

Re: Alia Tower - 200 Central - 483' / 40 Stories

If it is dead, that’s really disappointing. I know how hard they fought the neighborhood Association. I don’t know anything about market analysis, or market trends, or even the state of our housing market, but maybe things are starting to slow down. Maybe this can be built in the next cycle. Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT

We do bad transit. Only because local policy-makers overrule the staff that actually know how to do this right. Every time someone argues for more elected officials (e.g. elected Met Council), just remember that this is what we get when people who are afraid of facing a vocal minority of angry vote...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

It might be easier for some to just take the bike lanes on Glenwood for a good chunk of this given that it's direct. I run from Downtown to my home at Theo Wirth often so I'm bummed by some of these closures. Vineland/Sculpture Garden works I trained for a Marathon through there last year, and it's...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Red Line? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk On one of the three rivers maps they note all of the closures due to SWLRT (with a red line). The ones west of Bryn Mawr/Kenwood all have a planned detour but the section between Glenwood Ave and Van White Blvd is shown as closed but no detour is identif...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Yes, if we're going to have buses on Nicollet, then we might as well combine Hennepin buses on there as well. And bus passing lanes should have been built on the blocks where buses are dwelling at stops. And Hennepin should be three lane. The better option is to do the reverse: outer two lanes on H...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Did anyone else notice the red line with no detour between Van White and Glenwood (in one of the files linked from Three Rivers' page about the closures)? That's making me kind of nervous.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

... There are some folks who are just anti-transit ideological zealots, but apart from them, Metro should absolutely view each Uber as a service failure. (Or sometimes a land use failure, but I digress.) The remedies for this are obvious, and supported by the fact that ridership is growing for the ...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction / E Line (Uptown to Downtown)

Yeah, I was at the Apple Store yesterday, and they employees were commenting that one person would park, and then several others would follow their lead. I have a feeling that there is going to be a lot of cars dropping off or picking people up in the bike lane, even if they don’t officially park. ...

Don't forget that we (Minnesotans, not necessarily streets.mn) keep talking about the "failure" of Northstar without discussing how MNDOT is continually undermining that line by adding capacity in both parallel corridors.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

When do you think MGT will start factoring the cost of operating those huge parking lots into the performance of those "high performing" routes? ;-) Maple Grove Transit is considering some route changes. Overall, MGT is one of the better performers in terms of subsidy per passenger among s...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

The proposed split erodes mobility and should not be implemented. There are many visually impaired residents in near NE and Marcy-Holmes, now we're going to permanently force them to transfer on the way to services in Whittier and The Wedge? Why not talk more seriously about transit lanes on Hennepi...
