Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Big NIMBY energy from Peggy here. I live in SLP and just had an unsafe 5' diameter silver maple cut down a month ago. Unfortunately an adjacent bike lane didn't get built at the same time. SLP will replace it with two trees of my choosing. Sad to loose the massive mature tree. Really great service o...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Peggy is but one resident of the 50,000 residents of SLP. Hopefully her testimony is taken as such.

Dakota needs a road diet, steal some space from the existing pavement in the right of way and add a curb to protect the bike trail.

Downtown Ft. Lauderdale has a similar setup. They'll switch out your glassware for a plastic cup when leaving a bar.

Very civilized until you need to use the bathroom.

Cedar Lake Regional trail is now connected to the Midtown Greenway all the way to the Hopkins Depot.

Experience it in real life, it's nice to not have stop signs at crossing anymore in SLP. Not my video below:

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

If I recall, didn’t some section in Richfield do this widened gutter? IMO, when the choice is between a stripe and a widened gutter, the concrete every time. Currently drivers more easily recognize the concrete as “not their space” but just paint is seen as theirs. I’ve had conversations with my 80...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

It's a huge project, I don't know what you all expect? A huge reason for the delays is the tunnel which is costing a ton and will primarily benefit cyclists. As a cyclist and taxpayer I wish they didn't do the tunnel at all, but what is done is done. I guess I was hoping for some accommodations tha...

Cedar Lake Trail to downtown is now closed until 2025. Was supposed to reopen in 2021. "The Kenilworth Trail, a popular downtown commuter line between Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake, has been closed since 2019 and won't reopen until 2025." "The North Cedar Lake Trail that runs near ...

Re: Minneapolis Street Design

Would it be that easy to just swap parking? I assume with the chicanes it might not be -- though I have only biked on that stretch of Bryant once since it was finished and haven't driven it. I really don't think Bryant is the only street with this issue. I really like a lot of aspects of the redo o...

Vo's at 35th and Lyndale is for sale; so is the adjacent auto body shop property. 1/4 acre for both parcels. Not sure if the numbers work out at $1.35M for redevelopment. Also a former auto body shop location may have soil remediation required if housing is built? https://www.edinarealty.com/commerc...

Re: Minneapolis Street Design

Minneapolis hasn't had a traffic enforcement division since pre covid/GF. And with MPD's depleted numbers I doubt traffic enforcement is high on their to do list. If smaller firetrucks, raised crosswalks and narrower streets can slow traffic and save lives why not do it? I'm not sure if MFD is advo...

5 stories of units sitting on top of two levels of parking?

City should add some protected bike lanes on Vernon for all these new residents in the area.

Some infill on 50th and Lyndale. Far south Lyndale north of the creek could really use more of this kind of thing. https://twitter.com/nickhaltermpls/status/1644398225322041345?s=20 https://lims.minneapolismn.gov/download/Agenda/4592/5005LyndaleAvenueSMemo.pdf/80812/3815/5005%20Lyndale%20Avenue%20S...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Interlachen's bike lane is super narrow and shrubs make portions impassable due to encroachment on the bike lane. Drivers drive faster than the speed limit and the constant up and down hills limit visibility for drivers too. There's no way I would use it as a east-west bike route. Edina missed the m...
