Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

The suburban mayors are delusional if think BNSF will change their mind.

Was that last comment by the woman in favor of it going through North or not? I’m getting mixed signals from it.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Here's a map of the alignment I think they should do. North of Robbinsdale it's very similar to the original but would take lanes away from Bottineau Boulevard instead of being on BNSF right-of-way. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1Uz1B8knd-nsxhsdJza183NY11_fTRoie&usp=sharing I like this, ge...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

But honestly, screw the suburban ridership. Build a line that serves transit dependent people. Karen with her car in Brooklyn Park will either drive or continue taking the express bus!

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Now that this is presumably at the back of the line and 10+ years out again, what if we spent some of the money on track rights and upgrades and extended the (already BNSF-operated) Northstar out along this line to Osseo or so, with a couple midday runs instead of exclusively rush-hour? Or would th...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Since it's pretty much back to the drawing board, how about rerouting it to Maple Grove instead of a corporate campus in the middle of farm fields? City of Brooklyn Park would never let that happen in my opinion, they were promised LRT they are still going to want it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapa...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

I think Lyndale to Lowry is best. W. Broadway is too challenging technically and politically. Here's a new idea...Lyndale to the Canadian Pacific Right away near Camden? Maybe there is room on the Southern end of the yard to sneak LRT through? Let's stop trying to take the easy way, that is how we ...

This is honestly for the best! Let’s choose a route that will actually serve transit dependent people!

That either should be removed or do an online station with a skyway.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Looks like the first LRT cars for this are being delivered today. Are these cars identical to the previous Green Line cars? On the outside yes. On the inside there's bench seats in the middle section of the train. From a mechanical standpoint I don't know what, if anything, is different from the Ty...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

While it's not as egregious as 21st St Station, the area of Bryn Mawr near Penn Ave Station is very underzoned in 2040 as well. Unsurprisingly, another area represented by CM Goodman. The Penn corridor is interior 3 and everything else is interior 2. Single family homes a few hundred feet from the ...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

This might work, a lot of the traffic on W. Broadway is just passing through onto Bottineau and if you want an LRT they can just ride that. With that said a lot of people park on Broadway and people wouldn't like losing those slots. There would also be fears of gentrification. I have always felt we...

Re: RE: Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

it's a garbage route that barely serves North Minneapolis. The route is far from perfect and I'd personally prefer a different alignment but the current route down Olson would serve quite a large number of North residents. It does a lot more than "barely" serve North Minneapolis. Sent from my Pixel...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

You can already see construction activity showing up on Google Maps: https://www.google.com/maps/@44.8587015,-93.4366027,1008m/data=!3m1!1e3 It still seems surreal that this is actually under construction. Anyone heard any updates on when the FTA might finally execute the FFGA? Been a while since w...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

It's striking how much more willing they are to build expensive bridges to grade separate this line out in wealthy suburbia than they were to do the same for the two dense lines running in the core. Imagine how much cleaner the Snelling / University intersection would be if they'd built a tunnel or...
