Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

I'm glad it's gone. the heavy stream of out-of-towners that frequent the restaurants in that area deserve something that demonstrates the strength of our food scene. I hope Newsroom is next. I haven't dined there in a long time, and it was always for business functions where I wasn't the one paying...

How does SWLRT work, then? Is it specifically exempt? I know the Red Line is operated by MVTA for that reason.

Same question about the Orange Line. That's going to be MT-operated, right?
SWLRT and Orange Line will be operated by Metro Transit.

I like how this building turned out. I see that they participate in an affordable housing program, but I don't understand how with these income restrictions and the base rent of a 1 bedroom how someone at that income can afford that. I did the math that is about 31% of your income.

Yep through downtown Minneapolis, and in Brooklyn Center.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

Trying to decide the best place to post this... As the 8th street construction starts to wrap up, I’ve been thinking that either they should have A) reduced it one more lane to make it two lanes wide for the full stretch B) planned for 2 car lanes, and 1 dedicated bus lane. For the construction it ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

Northtown Mall wants to move the transit center to the south parking lot so that the land can be developed. The neighborhood adjacent (which is in Spring Lake Park) to the new transit center isn't happy. https://www.hometownsource.com/abc_newspapers/news/government/spring-lake-park-opposes-proposed...

There goes any chance of Target Field Station actually being a transit hub.
Why do you say that? any future commuter train could most likely use the current Northstar platform.

The escalator will go right up next to that service desk and convenience store at the East entrance of the mall.

Opat has spent about 20 years dragging this project along, so he's probably not the most reliable source on this topic.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Rail and BRT were up in May 2019 over 2018, so I think it was just a bad quarter due to the weather and closures!

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Metro Mobility did secure a one-time funding increase, and its own budget line. So it is now separate from Transit system operations. Also will now expand to serve Lakeville as well.

Still a big bummer to see no investment in BRT.

So they are down to 3 routings between UTS and Southdale.

Not Southwest light rail related, but I wasn’t sure where to put it. What kind of trackwork are they doing downtown this weekend? Re: E Line Arterial BRT

Are they seriously planning on running articulated buses through Linden Hills? With some of the twists and turns on that route? I'm still floored, given the impressive density that's being added around the West Lake station, that they've given up on that connection. There is no point in duplicating...

Just returned from a trip to Nashville after not being there for 5 years. WOW!!!! Re: Labeling the Transit System

In theory BRT like the Orange Line and LRT are supposed to be "rapid transit" and are meant for traveling greater distances, while aBRT is meant to be an improved alternative to local buses. In practice it's a distinction without a difference. You could call the A Line the Mauve Line or call the Re...
