Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Rail and BRT were up in May 2019 over 2018, so I think it was just a bad quarter due to the weather and closures!

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Metro Mobility did secure a one-time funding increase, and its own budget line. So it is now separate from Transit system operations. Also will now expand to serve Lakeville as well.

Still a big bummer to see no investment in BRT.

They only want regular fixed route service, anything more than that they could care less.

Anyone make it to the open house last night? Any major new updates?
I did!

So they are down to 3 routings between UTS and Southdale.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Not Southwest light rail related, but I wasn’t sure where to put it. What kind of trackwork are they doing downtown this weekend? Didn’t they do a whole bunch of work on the tracks downtown last year? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Repairs being Made: Several sections of cracked track from this...

Re: E Line Arterial BRT

Are they seriously planning on running articulated buses through Linden Hills? With some of the twists and turns on that route? I'm still floored, given the impressive density that's being added around the West Lake station, that they've given up on that connection. There is no point in duplicating...

Re: Nashville

Just returned from a trip to Nashville after not being there for 5 years. WOW!!!! They have a few stick built apartment complexes going up, but the amount of midrise and high rises going up is absolutely insane for a city this size. The old skyline is completely taken over by the new towers downtow...

Re: Labeling the Transit System

In theory BRT like the Orange Line and LRT are supposed to be "rapid transit" and are meant for traveling greater distances, while aBRT is meant to be an improved alternative to local buses. In practice it's a distinction without a difference. You could call the A Line the Mauve Line or call the Re...

Are the B and E line stops not labeled because they haven’t officially decided on them yet?
Yes, you are correct. The BRT office is still studying them for their final routings.

Why wouldn't Central be included on that map? Any insight?
Because there is no solidified plan for either the streetcar or aBRT yet.

Re: Minneapolis Parking Meters

LRT & BRT has 10 minute headways. Does that include weekends? Politically, people will learn to fight for better transit if parking is expensive & inconvenient—just as today people fight for better parking when transit is expensive & inconvenient. [emoji848] LRT and BRT do have 10 minute frequencie...

I’d say a top priority should be to make NextTrip actually work. Fix the “real time” screens so that they use gps data instead of schedules.
Metro Transit is currently working on that as well.
