Re: Rex 26 - 2601 Lyndale Ave S
This Aldi offers shopping baskets which isn't a universal feature. Maybe extended hours could happen as well. I stopped by the Walgreens on Hennepin on my way home from the transit station around 9pm. Long lines of people buying grocery-type items.

Re: Uptown (and LynLake) Development & General Topics
My understanding is that no trees will be removed as part of the plan and that it's unlikely to implemented for 10 years or so (according to WedgeLive reporting/twitter). I've lived in the area for a long time and while the Mall is a pleasant enough place to pass through, it never occurred to me tha...

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
The Dunn Bros. on Hennepin and 25&1/2 has closed rather abruptly. Everything is still in there, just some signs taped to the door that they are closing permanently. I live nearby and this location was usually bustling, so I wonder what happened. Hopefully everyone is okay and the space doesn't s...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
The Greenway was closed as part of the Knoll area infrastructure projects, but I haven't been down that way in a while so I can't say specifically why they had to close it.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
I feel like Bde Maka Ska sees a reasonable amount of tourism in the summer. You'll notice groups of people speaking German or Italian enjoying the trails or renting paddleboards. Though it's true that people staying downtown for sports or concerts probably aren't making the trek all that often (espe...

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Maybe. Republic didn't fare that well, but I don't pretend to understand all of the pressures of running a business in Calhoun Square. I think something a little more laid back (as opposed to Uptown Tavern, Pourhouse, etc.) and off Lake Street would appeal to a certain demographic, but it's also kin...

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
I'm a fairly regular movie goer at the Uptown/Lagoon and am definitely down for more options for food/drink nearby. I'm not a huge fan of much nearby, but maybe this joint will be a little more laid back.

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan
I've waded into a few Nextdoor conversations but less to argue my points and more to direct people to what's actually in the plan (as opposed to whatever apocalyptic scenario they've adopted). It has rarely seemed to make a difference to the posters, but I'm hopeful that another reader will actually...

I can't seem to manage to be in town when streets has an official meetup. I'd definitely be interested in a happy hour in early August.

Hi gang. I've been on here for a little while (mostly lurking with the occasional post) but haven't made it into this section much. My name is Matt and I've been living in Minneapolis since 1997 in a variety of neighborhoods (Lynlake, Lowry Hill East, Stevens, Central, Powderhorn, and now East Isles...

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
I was able to stop by Tenka Ramen on Lake Street (formerly Marina) for lunch the other day. The space is nice and my soup was tasty. I was the only one in the restaurant, but I don't think anyone gets a big weekday lunch crowd in that area. I'd definitely say it's worth checking out if you're in the...

Chiming in a little late, but my wife and I took the trip up to Big Lake and then to SPUD. We met a nice gentleman while getting tickets and spent the trip chatting with him about trains, travel, Minneapolis (he is a 40 year Prospect Park resident), and everything in-between. It was a great time and...

The F+F menu doesn't do much for me, but in the Mpls/St. Paul Magazine article they mentioned having a reasonably priced wine list (glasses starting at $5) which I am fully on board with.

Looks like Lucia's will be closing this month. First my preferred pre-movie beverage stop and now my preferred post-movie dinner stop.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Coup d'Etat was my preferred pre-movie beverage stop (particularly when their happy hour went until 7). I had some really nice chats with some of their happy hour regulars. Hopefully that bunch finds a new home nearby. Lake & Irving, maybe?
