Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I recently witnessed a car drive on the Bridge 9 portion of the Dinkytown Greenway late at night (it was a flashy car and drove back and forth across the bridge a few times and then left). Automobile access is easy from the access-driveway off of East River Road on the U campus, and I've heard that ...

Re: 1501 Como Ave Apartments

Agreed, and there aren't many opportune parcels in the area. 1202 Como is the only other housing shift I know of around there - that is a 1909 house that got demo'd starting a couple months ago, and is being turned into a 2.5 story triplex similar to the units just south of it. Modest gains. Gopher ...

Re: The Hub Minneapolis - 600 Washington Ave SE (284' - 26 Stories)

I'm in this area daily and despite that observing this construction is routine for me now, I'm still frequently amazed at how quickly this has gone up. They are at 21 stories now I believe, starting 22nd (?)

Re: 1501 Como Ave Apartments

My main observation concerning these apartments is how unfortunate it is that the apartments shown in photo below in the white-exterior section of the building (the section where the blue "renting for September" banner is) have headlights coming through their windows (even if the cheap bli...

Nice.
Too bad this wasn't successful, this could be a really cool technology if integrated with other bicycle appliances

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

Quick note: The redesigned 8th St SE between 15th Ave SE and Central, especially the segment between 15th Ave SE and 10th Ave SE, feels so much more inviting to interact with and cross as a pedestrian than it did a year ago. The parking lane on the south (eastbound) side of the road was removed, all...

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

Yeah, this is totally fine, but why not include a stair or ramp on each end facing 6th St in addition to the ramps from 5th? I was wondering this also, and I know it was brought up to the MNDOT project contacts at the July 13 design open house. One problem is the lack of sidewalks along the I-35W s...

Re: Minneapolis 311

SeeClickFix is updating their Minneapolis 311 Mobile (at least ios) app and is inviting some (all?) registered Minneapolis users to beta test the new app. This BETA program showcases some new and improved interfaces, workflows, and features, including: Bottom navigation for quick access to primary c...

Re: 5th St SE Pedestrian Bridge

This project is going forward in 2019 I believe. Details including alignment (which is interesting due to ramp slopes for ADA compliance) are in link below, though I've seen more up to date visuals (secondhand from someone who snapped pictures at the July 13 Visual Quality open house) that haven't b...

Re: Health Sciences Education Facility

This project is going forward. In December, occupants of Masonic Memorial and VFW Cancer Research Center will move out, and in Spring (perhaps April) the buildings will be demolished, with HSEC construction soon to follow, to be completed Winter 2019/Spring 2020. https://www.health.umn.edu/education...
