Yesterday I heard this project will break ground soon, within a few weeks.
What a strange time for this to be going forward.
Spring is a strange time?

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

Only thing that would make it worth it would be if they were affordable micro studio apartments say 250-300sq ft with prices at 550 to 650 rent prices. Be a great opportunity for people just starting out after college in all that debt.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

If a new route that includes a (or two) west end station were to be considered I would say that’s a great victory for the delay.

Re: Mall of America Transit Station

A small little development, but it looks like the MOA Transit Station is getting a Caribou. Would love to see more stuff like this around our transit stations. https://twitter.com/mallofamerica/status/1229842090852528134 They should absolutely be incorporating retail into the busier stations. Build...

Re: Fantasy maps

Since we're in fantasy mode... What if we extended Southwest LRT via existing HCRRA/MnDOT rights-of-way (mostly the old railroad grade to Chaska) with split service to Downtown Chaska and Downtown Shakopee? Those two downtowns are two of the seven county seats in our metro area, and they could rela...

Re: Eleven (Ryan Condo Tower) - 1111 West River Parkway - 41 stories / 550'

Would it be too inflammatory to suggest a 900 ft tall freeway lid? :D That could get two birds with one stone, a lid and a new tallest hahah how about a 900 space parking ramp? Maybe naming rights could go to Walmart too! Go Vikes! But seriously a B Ramp like structure that had a nice pedestr...

Re: Eleven (Ryan Condo Tower) - 1111 West River Parkway - 41 stories / 550'

The idea of freeway lids keeps popping up on this forum. I understand the desire for connection, but there are still many acres of underutilized land downtown, and there are gaping infrastructure needs everywhere. Juxtaposing the square footage cost of space on top of a freeway cap to these facts, ...

Re: Melzer Block (E Hennepin between Univ and 4th) for Sale

I say bulldoze the back side of the buildings and rebuild it into a tower, and leave the street side front 20 feet. Except for the brick walls between the two 3 floor buildings. Save that back further as that would be a loverly outdoor/indoor cafe space. The rest would look nice as a modern tower on...

Hey look, plans: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LOVSPUTI6Q53hwJlsFM3K1aGFTihp4FF Great find! Not sure I like how the tower lines Central Ave instead of being pushed back to the back side of the podium. There is a great 3-6 floor vide in this area that would be greatly complemented. As well...

You mean like the D line. It’s already so high traffic I wonder if there won’t be enough busses to fill the demands of that corridor?

I wish all towers would move as efficiently and quickly as this. When I saw this on Saturday crossing the river I got so excited I distracted my wife and we missed our exit. That's almost a "intervention" for development tracking obsession story. haha  But in all seriousness, yes this one has ...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

I like the broadway route idea, but only as a more temporary solution until they can eventually get the railroad to agree. The Broadway BRT line goes all the way to Robbinsdale and building 6 more ideally temp BRT stations north of that would be a good investment to get the line fast tracked. Maybe ...

What unimaginative useless crap!!! The water park looks deserving to be included in to the MOA but the rest.... the rest? Re: B Line Lake St Rapid Bus, Midtown Rail Transit

Sorry I was thinking of the E line, that line down Hennepin should connect to westend. I guess B line is going to be extended to St. Paul downtown. https://metrocouncil.org/Council-Meetings/Committees/Transportation-Committee/2019/October-28,-2019/Info-2_-B-Line-Update.aspx I like that Idea, I don't...

Re: B Line Lake St Rapid Bus, Midtown Rail Transit

I am also betting on this service becoming a very successful route. No doubt. Regarding the ridership mismatch between west and east of Hiawatha Ave, we should probably revisit the Midtown Corridor Streetcar/LRT soon, ideally along with the implementation of B Line. Guess we just need more people t...

Re: MSP to Rochester High Speed Rail

One thing that needs to happen is to build more of a base in the MSP region for these services rather than relying on individual regions in Greater MN to lobby for their lines. This. The Greater MN regions all are absolutely auto-dependent so a train into the Cities, while nice for commuters or cas...

Re: Rochester Transit Line

Given our state's famously flexible definition of "BRT", I'm very curious to see what this ends up actually being. It would be quite the feat if Rochester managed to get, say, dedicated, physically-separated, center-running bus lanes before Minneapolis or St. Paul got them. I agree the C Line which...
