That's really sharp! Love the brick and restrained use of design elements.
Agreed!
Not a bad looking building, a couple of floors of office wouldn't be a bad addition
to the project, it has a stately, official, vintage look to it-

This building, by eye, looks like it is about to be topped off...
I haven't sat and counted, but it looks like they have about three or four stories on Nord Haus-
This project went up pretty fast in my estimation- it's not distinctive in any way, but it is a massive filling of space....

What a crappy piece of crap- crap. Nope! they are outta here. They failed. Their proposal is unacceptable, its shot. There was a process to win the rights to develop here, United FAILED. Other proposals were cast aside, they were told they weren't good enough... I wanted Duval to win, and perhaps t...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC Plaza Jr.) - 30 stories - 458'

Fine. Build the P.O.S..... I'm not gonna kiss their hand because they are going to put an office building Perkins style cafeteria in to fulfill their promise of commercial space.... But they have been cheapening their proposal since day one, I would rather an empty lot that retains it's potential un...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC Plaza Jr.) - 30 stories - 458'

The city's request for proposals (RFP) outlines its goals for that critical junction: "... an iconic, high-quality, designed new construction structure(s) of at least 20 active floors a mix of commercial, retail, residential, office and hotel uses active street-level retail integrated green space fo...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC Plaza Jr.) - 30 stories - 458'

One of the other developers in the sweepstakes to earn the rights to the parcel might have been able to stay truer to their initial proposal. We, the residents are not responsible for what the proposal is now, the City of Minneapolis is not responsible, either. United Properties is responsible alone...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC Plaza Jr.) - 30 stories - 458'

THE DEAL was.... We (the Representatives of The Citizens of Minneapolis), give you, the winners of the"proposal contest" development rights to this parcel- YOU (United Properties) give us an ICONIC BUILDING.... That has not been fulfilled. This is the corner of Washington and Hennepin Avenues, for c...

Re: OX-OP Gallery and Residences.

My thought is Minneapolis should have some sort of "expectational zoning" where a building proposal would have to be of a certain height, and specify a certain quality of materials, and also pay attention to the economy of space so close to the downtown core- I'm assuming that in a generation, this ...

Re: Arby’s Island

Oh Yeah, much better views in the packet, I understand the building better, now. I didn't notice the wrap around aspect of the building on the Lake Street side from the first drawing... I also have a problem with the need for ornamentation. Ornamentation does not equal good design. There are plenty ...

Re: Arby’s Island

Very few of us are owners/designers of these buildings, so our effect on design is minimal, at best- But the buildings we leave behind, and allow to be built are our legacy- what will people think of this "Arby's Island" building 50 years from now, other than we had an great ability to fill space? I...

Re: Mortenson / USBank site - 333 Hennepin Ave E (290' - 26 stories)

I liked the early drawings of this building, with the "Tetris" look to the exterior. Now, the design has morphed into a more utilitarian sensibility- If we could say the building was "Brutalist" but still ugly, we could say "bravo! well done! nice example of the concept!" but utilitarian isn't an ar...

It is a difficult choice, I offered a question that wasn't well thought out. 3rd is busy in the evening rush, people hurrying to get out of DT- Deliveries will be easier morning hours, and they are usually made in the morning(?) I know first hand about the evening, I was crunched on my motorcycle he...

Re: Gateway Tower (Four Seasons/RBC) - 43 stories - 513'

The Hennepin Avenue side of this building seems to be it's rear end- Favored renderings show the Nicollet side more often- Not as many interesting features on the podium on the Hennepin side? (maybe I should look at the renderings before commenting) Maybe this is a mullet of a building, Business in ...
