Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Regarding the pedestrian that waited for one train to pass, then got hit by another going the opposite direction: Here in Munich the trams ring their bells for a half second while passing each other. I used to think it was just a friendly "hello" to the other driver, but then I was fortuna...

Re: Tunnels!
An amazing undersea tunnel network is set to open this month in the Faroe Islands by Denmark, built by a Norwegian engineering firm. Not only a subterranean roundabout, but under- sea! When the entire territory has a population of < 50,000, who pays for this? https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/...

Re: Interstate 94
Isn't 94 mostly a trench? Could we put a lid on it? Cheaper than tunnelling, and the top could be green space. Not sure if that's more or less likely that removing 94, or if it brings the benefits we're looking for.

Agreed! For the EU, 2021 will be the final switch. Everyone switches to DST in the spring of '21. Then each country either chooses to stay there forever, or to go back to ST in the fall. And that's that!advocate for the elimination of DST or ST instead!

Re: Tunnels!
Love it! Also looking forward to the Brenner Pass tunnel (even longer!) between Innsbruck and Milan to opened in 2027.
Now if they'd tunnel north from Innsbruck, Munich to Italy would be a breeze

Re: MSP Airport
The hotel is effectively an island. We tried to get there before our flight to enjoy a meal. It took a while to find where the shuttle stops at the terminal, then we called the hotel to let them know we were there, and then we waited. And waited, and waited. After 15 minutes of waiting we left, assu...

Video has been taken down by the user. Did the railroad pull some legal punches? The St. Paul Bicycle Coalition posted a video that shows, via stop motion, the potential connection between the Ayd Mill gulch and the Short Line Bridge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZftMI3wLHPs

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
I posted that same comment about the 98th Street station. It didn't even make it into the comments summary, so they must not be able/willing to address it. This station is the worst, because the bus not only gets off the interstate, but the Southbound then takes a left (at a stoplight), another stop...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
It's odd how every bridge in the Hwy 62 to 46th St redo was replaced, and the look of those bridges ties in well with the new retaining walls. Is everything north of 46th St going to look disjointed and haphazard in comparison? To be fair, there are a lot more bridges in the northern section.

Re: Scooter sharing
I'm pretty sure increasing their costs per trip by $0.0005 is not of concern to them; they are giving out huge promotional discounts left and right. It's not as if many users will use SMS (which they already support), and for those who do, that's only 1/5,000th of their average trip revenue. It seem...

Re: Scooter sharing
Very interesting about Lime's Access program! I'm glad they're trying. But it's frustrating that only EBT (food assistance) citizens are allowed to use SMS to unlock bikes. For those of us not on EBT, you may only use Lime's smartphone app. They must make a lot of $$$ selling the data they collect f...

Re: Scooter sharing
It is a bummer how Metro Transit removed the 10% discount with Go-To last year :( Being an out-of-towner makes transit cards less useful. I have a collections of them from cities I'll probably never go to again. Hour Car and Nice Ride aren't using the Metro Transit card balance to pay for the servic...

Re: Scooter sharing
If these rental scooters/bikes/whatever are going to become permanent fixtures, I would strongly encourage the city to require they work with the existing Go-To transit cards. The new Nice Ride dockless bikes and Hour Car already do. After registering, you just tap and go. Letting these companies ef...

Re: U.S. Highway 52
But it's just single family homes on the other side of 52, right? Seems like this isn't a compelling location to spend all of the money that building a cap would take. Exactly my thoughts. This would be a parking lot over a freeway, butted up against a giant sound wall. I'm assuming the single-fami...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
They're finally tearing up 29th Avenue at the Greenway to make that closure permanent. Nice to see! That street is very quiet. A little too quiet. The shady new dead end on the South side of the trail is often occupied by parked vehicles with people toking up, and the "van down by the river&qu...

I'm surprised that parking meters charge more when you use the smartphone app. It's cheaper to pay at the kiosk, even in cash. I wonder what their reasoning is.

Re: Bike Share
One of their stated missions is "equity," but how does charging people without smartphones twice the price help with that?New lower price for single rides of $2 at a kiosk and $1 on their app.
