Yes, this was cleared up a long time ago. Izzy's factory will have an ice cream parlor with seating. Can't wait for this fun building to start construction!I thought all the misconceptions and dislike for this project had been cleared up on Minnescraper.

Re: Block E
This was a case of horrible urban design, the developer deserved to lose his shirt on this one. Ugly exterior, lousy pedestrian flow once inside the building. Only a total gut job will make it work again. There needs to be an honest street enterance from 1st Ave into the rest of Block E, and a way ...

Re: Block E
Here are some thoughts about Block E, just playing around, without particular thought about who might pay for these improvements: 3. Block E Part 3 The mid-block street-level entrance from Hennepin should lead to a passageway leading all the way through to First Ave., opened as much as possible to ...

Re: Nicollet Residences
the updated information from the Tribune is exciting! My favorite aspect about the Nicollet tower is how "large and fat" the bottom of the building is and how it sits so close to the station with doors for residents! This tower will be the 1st "true urban living building" on Nic...

Re: 1001 Nicollet - New Target Building
Glad they are finally doing something to what had been a major eyesore on the Mall. Now if they would only do something about City Centers lower 4 floors I'd be very happy. Yes, it will be great to have these nice old buildings opened up and alive again! City Center needs new owners who will give i...

Re: 1368 LaSalle Ave development
Yes, the rental market really can't "crash" as Spectre said. The economics of building rental is less risky in some ways. Another thought is some of the new apartment buildings sure come across to me as "psuedo" urban condo buildings. The Loring Office Building and 1368 Lasalle i...

On the bright side, according to this article, Hines broke ground on the Nicollet in June 2006! http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/stories/2006/04/03/daily57.html Hines Interests of Houston, with worldwide credentials and a very big wallet, has joined the team for The Nicollet on the Mall, bring...

Re: Target Center Renovation
Yes, I really don't think this complex should try to have street level retail. It should be a "feeder"for other retail establishments in the surrounding area. I would rather see Block E redeveloped with people from Target Center ( and Target Field) eating or shopping there before or after ...

Re: Nicollet Mall
I think they could re-do the facade of just the 4 story retail portion and leave the tower alone. Its my least favorite tall building downtown, but the street level at the base of the tower is not as bad as the street level of the retail portion. Of course I would love it they did something with th...

Re: Nicollet Mall
Agreed.....the facade on the 6th, 7th and Nicollet sides is truly awful. I'm surprised there is as much retail inside as there is. You would think potential tennants would take one look at the outside and say NO WAY. I wonder that too with all the boarded up entrances on Nicollet Mall. I would thin...

Re: RS Eden Emanuel 822 Third St. S
This is a great project. Looks better than some of the higher end apartment projects going up. This validates my belief that good quality architecture is for ALL people, not just for the privileged. This will bring much needed housing and support for people with chronic mental illness issues. They a...

Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark
This is a beautiful design. Urbane and sleek. Very contemporary yet it works well with the older buildings of Lowertown. It really takes the architecture of a ballpark to a new level of sophistication. I can't wait to see this built ! Maybe the Vikings should hire these architects to design their ne...

Re: 940 Selby Avenue
If I lived in this neighborhood , I would be very wary of a building going up with that cheap a budget. What are using to construct the project: Lincoln Logs?? It's going to be an eyesore. Selby Ave needs to protect its character, and be very careful that new development enhances the historical feel...

Re: Walker Library
When I eventually win a +100 million dollar Powerball jackpot, I'm buying the Arby's lot and building a boutique hotel on it. That Arby's lot is my FAVORITE location in Uptown! It has all the potential to be a fantastic ultra-hip gateway building into Uptown. Yeah, a nice triangular shaped boutique...

Re: Vikings Stadium
I'm pretty sure people were just using Lucas Oil Stadium as a stand-in for scale purposes. It was new and being used for the Super Bowl last season so it was a good reference point for people who aren't quite as hooked into the NFL as Larry Spooner. I would be very surprised if we consciously copie...

Re: Walker Library
I preferred the old plan that included apartments / hotel above the library. My guess is the economy put that project on hold. Personally, I'd like to see this corner add some more residential to the neighborhood. A good way to do that might be to have the City of Minneapolis act like a developer, ...

Re: Walker Library
The overall feel of the building is open and the activity inside is highly visible on Hennepin. Yet , I suspect the library will be designed with some quiet and more private spaces. I'm sure library officials are aware of that need in its design.

Re: Vikings Stadium
I really hope the architects resist the temptation to emulate Indianapolis or the Linden Ave copy of it. The Indianapolis stadium was designed in the context of the character of that city , which is just fine for them. However, Minneapolis has a very different personality and the new stadium should ...
