Re: Highland Bridge: Ford Site Redevelopment
I wonder how much impact the spiking interest rates will have on future sales of the rowhomes, once Pulte gets through the initial waiting list of folks that have been waiting years to live here. Perhaps there's enough interest (the other kind) from older folks that are selling similarly-valued home...

Re: Cedar Ave Corridor - Richfield
The north building is mostly fine and experiences more grade change south to north. The south building feels more visible to the public / Target shoppers and they definitely should've dug out the parking garage a few feet deeper. It's basically at-grade for the entire length of the building. That or...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics
Well it sounds like they'd better offer public tours before demo'ing the current structure. As for the speculation, buying and operating an old office building doesn't seem like Sherman's wheelhouse, especially in the current office environment, even if they got it for half the assessed market value...

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion
I know this is the Minneapolis thread, but I'm much more interested in Melvin Carter's future then Frey's. I tend to think the Frey well has been poisoned by the last few years, but Carter has come out unscathed. Tuesday's primary demonstrated that it's McCollum's 4th as long as she wants it, but s...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction (Douglas to Lake St)
Apologies if this has already been suggested to death, but I swear we've talked about (probably in this very thread) how other cities have cameras on their buses that capture license plate info of cars parked in the bus lane and offenders get a ticket in the mail (and possibly automatically alerts t...

Re: Southdale Area - Edina
Wouldn't a better location for the transit center potentially be the south side of the mall? It would add a little extra running time to the 515 and other routes that come into the current location from the north/east, but the potential ridership gains by moving the transit center into the walkshed ...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction (Douglas to Lake St)
Are all of the people advocating for bus lanes on Hennepin also advocating for putting the 5 back on Chicago and ensuring the D Line isn’t detoured when it opens later this year? Haven’t heard much advocacy on that much busier route with a much higher share of POC ridership…

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
We haven’t seen a lot of condos in general, but I recall someone pointed out that maybe the numbers could work out when you: 1. Have a concrete/steel building so maybe there’s less concern with the exterior warranty issue. 2. Somewhat lower construction costs since the structure already exists. OTOH...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
There were some sloppy/slanted lines from KSTP in the story, but I wouldn't rank that as one of them. At least one Hennepin County Commissioner (Chair Marion Greene IIRC) has explicitly stated that they don't think Hennepin County taxpayers should foot the entire bill for the latest overages, and th...

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus
7th St / 5th Ave was chosen due to convenient transfers to Royalston / Farmers Market Station. I believe long-term plans for the area include a new stoplight (or maybe a HAWK signal, not sure) at the 3-way intersection. I think it does a good job splitting the spacing between Block E and 7th/Bryant....

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
Given the double lines on the map around Emerson-Fremont, it appears they are keeping open the idea of involving 21st Avenue N, whether that be splitting LRT into one-way pairs on Broadway & 21st, or putting a transit mall on 21st. Jamming everything onto Broadway and pretending that's going to ...

The problem here lies entirely with the property owner, Brixmor. Dumpy old strip malls (and new strip malls, I guess) are the only thing they do. They don't do residential, they don't do mixed use. I assume they plan to sell the "Hub west" (fmr Rainbow) site to a housing developer and will...

Two guys were smoking crack or meth in the seats in front of me on a southbound Blue Line between downtown and Lake, on a Sunday afternoon. I don't ride that often, but I have been a bit more lately, several trips to the airport, etc. I haven't seen a transit cop on a train in years. I don't think t...

While Sean did say "continuation", I'll argue that a roadway connection needn't necessarily require a reconstruction of Main Street to typical MPRB Parkway standards. It could just be a connection, perhaps with a roundabout and gateway markings at 6th Ave SE to signify the changing charact...

I'll say again, I can't wait to bike around the new streets and just geek out. Aside from building construction activities impacting certain streets, I feel on one hand that if the streets are complete, streetlights turned on, and have been deeded to public ownership, then they ought to be open to t...
