Re: Vikings Stadium
1. I wonder what happens to the current 5th St exit then. If not for Cedar-Riverside Station being right there, it could be a local street to access downtown (and the stadium) from Riverside Plaza (connect to 15th Av S). At the very least it could be retained as a bike/ped connection. I mean, you wo...

A few tidbits from the "Scoping Environmental Assessment": Permanent closure of 5th St S between 11th Ave S and Chicago Ave Temporary closure of surrounding roadways on game days Construction of a new freeway entrance ramp from 4th St to northbound I-35W to begin in Spring 2013, led by Hen...

I will try to remember to take pictures of this site at least every other week, seeing as I walk by it 2-3x/week.

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)
Yeah, the combination of large glass panels and ballasted track (hey, free rocks for throwing) was a bit shortsighted. But maybe you were referring to something else? The maintenance is just lacking in general.

I'm almost certain I heard something about designing it in such a way to slow bikers down.

I've got some pictures from earlier this week...I promise to get them on here soon.
I think Phase 2 is just being used as storage/staging right now.
Are any of those buildings on the phase 2 & 3 sites being actively used for anything anymore? Or is everything vacant?

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
The only reason I can think of is to have separate platforms for Blue and Green Line passenger queuing for Target Field events.

Re: City Walk Uptown - (1312 West Lake Street)
Does anyone know how this new building will interact with Cheapo? Will it be built wall-to-wall or will the alleyway be reestablished? Currently the space that would be the alley is just parking. I'm like 100% sure this won't happen, but how cool would it be if McDonald's (sans drive-thru) moved int...

Re: Southwest LRT
People like to speculate their transit fantasies, but I think that's going to be it for a long time. If the line isn't on a Met Council map by now, well...don't get your hopes up. Gateway has been narrowed down to either BRT or managed lanes on 94 (and thank god because all the other options were du...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
There are no more plans for LRT. After Southwest and Bottineau get built, that's it. If the lines aren't on a Met Council map by now they aren't happening for a long time. We will actually just have 2 light rail lines in the Twin Cities, since Southwest is an extension of the Green Line (Central Cor...

Re: Southwest LRT
Are you familiar with the 3C alignment that wasn't chosen? It isn't just about connecting Uptown locally or providing faster service to downtown. For me it's about a one-seat ride from Uptown to jobs in the SW corridor, or to the U of M and points beyond (eliminating the need for the 113-115 express...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
You're damn right about the stops on Hennepin at 28th. They need to go away. I honestly think that we like-minded bus riders need to form some kind of "riders union", even though I hate the sound of that, and demand better service. Or we could just agree to bombard Metro Transit with compl...

Re: Southwest LRT
Of course, the schedule could be faster if they decide to open up in two phases, one to Hopkins, the next to EP. That would be ideal, and kind of makes sense considering how expensive and complicated the route gets after Shady Oak Station. The more I study the history of this thing, the clearer it ...

Re: Southwest LRT
Right now, is there any chance that the 3C alignment will be used instead of the 3A? As someone who knows basically nothing the details of these type of projects, I just have to ask. My understanding is, quite unfortunately, no. I would be more than ok with the project being delayed a year or two i...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
As it stands now, the 6 & 17 are quite efficient, as well as the 5. I've never, ever wondered why these buses don't run faster. You've made some good points, but this statement is puzzling. Are you even remotely serious or am I that bad at reading sarcasm on the internet? 20+ minutes between La...

And those Lakeville folks are still paying the same fare as someone riding from St. Louis Park or Richfield despite traveling MORE THAN DOUBLE the distance. 20.5 Miles to Kenrick Ave P&R in Lakeville from Marquette & 7th downtown. Compare this to Mtka Blvd & Louisiana Ave (6.8mi) or Lynd...
