Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
You're damn right about the stops on Hennepin at 28th. They need to go away. I honestly think that we like-minded bus riders need to form some kind of "riders union", even though I hate the sound of that, and demand better service. Or we could just agree to bombard Metro Transit with compl...

Re: Southwest LRT
Of course, the schedule could be faster if they decide to open up in two phases, one to Hopkins, the next to EP. That would be ideal, and kind of makes sense considering how expensive and complicated the route gets after Shady Oak Station. The more I study the history of this thing, the clearer it ...

Re: Southwest LRT
Right now, is there any chance that the 3C alignment will be used instead of the 3A? As someone who knows basically nothing the details of these type of projects, I just have to ask. My understanding is, quite unfortunately, no. I would be more than ok with the project being delayed a year or two i...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
As it stands now, the 6 & 17 are quite efficient, as well as the 5. I've never, ever wondered why these buses don't run faster. You've made some good points, but this statement is puzzling. Are you even remotely serious or am I that bad at reading sarcasm on the internet? 20+ minutes between La...

Re: Transit News and Happenings
And those Lakeville folks are still paying the same fare as someone riding from St. Louis Park or Richfield despite traveling MORE THAN DOUBLE the distance. 20.5 Miles to Kenrick Ave P&R in Lakeville from Marquette & 7th downtown. Compare this to Mtka Blvd & Louisiana Ave (6.8mi) or Lynd...

Re: The 155 - (155 University Avenue Southeast)
From F&C (edited): The Minneapolis-based Labor Temple Association is floating plans for 81 market-rate apartments in a project called “The 155,” near the intersection of Central Avenue and University Avenue in southeast Minneapolis. “We had been talking about it for several years. Just plain par...

Re: City Walk Uptown - (1312 West Lake Street)
Slim's last stand The long-rumored closing of Cowboy Slim's in Uptown will come true Saturday night. Co-owner Chris Diebold said his landlord is proceeding with redevelopment plans, which call for another towering retail/apartment complex on the block. Diebold said he's in negotiations to reopen Co...

Re: Bottineau Corridor (Blue Line Extension)
A few things (assuming D1): The stop spacing proposed on D1 is more consistent with Commuter Rail than LRT...which begs the questions: 1. Why no stop at 36th Avenue North? There's a bridge there, and buses currently cross over it. It would be one mile from Robbinsdale Station, which is consistent wi...

Re: Green Line (Central)
Well, we could (and should) have zone fares instead of this rush/non-rush nonsense like most other metro systems. The local fares might not change much, but we could have a bigger downtown zone (include Loring & Elliot Park neighborhoods and the remainder of the N. Loop). As for express fares, i...

Re: UTEC Student Housing - (1313 Fifth Street Southeast)
I watched a little bit of the Planning Commission meeting out of curiosity, and the only thing people complained about was the loss of the surface parking lot. According to the owners of Kafe 421, Varsity Theater, and Loring Pasta Bar, Dinkytown is going to shrivel up and die without the parking lot...

Re: How do you primarily get around?
Multi-modal, but mostly bus. (I voted bus) My bus pass is free, so I take 2 buses from Whittier to work in the North Loop. It usually takes around 25 minutes. I also occasionally take an express bus to the West Bank of the U. I sometimes, but rarely bike to either destination. I do bike quite a bit,...

I can't believe I didn't catch that. No station near Tamarack Village, Oakdale Village or Woodbury Lakes (the three major shopping centers around (I-94 and Radio). It seems to pass somewhat close to all 3, plus there is a current Park & Ride at Guardian Angels church, next to Best Buy. I bet if ...

Re: Gateway Corridor
I like what I'm hearing. The best service for East 7th is Rapid Bus (arterial BRT), not Gateway Corridor. I generally agree with the notion that freeway-running LRT/BRT is not optimal, because the station areas are unwalkable. I feel like I've seen enough AA's at this point that the outcome is predi...

Nasa, if you want to gripe about transit vs. road funding, start a new thread. That topic could be (and has been) debated ad nauseam.

Agreed, that is a ton of hardware for what could have been a simple LED panel mounted to the side of the bus shelter. I'm guessing most of that is to facilitate the solar power. Considering how little energy this thing uses, and that there is likely an electricity source available nearby... Sometime...
