Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)

That website is cringey bad. Did this project change developers/contractors when it was dormant for a while? You don't typically see such low-end marketing for development of this scale. Is Master still involved as developer? Who's building it now? Looking back in the thread, demo/digging began in D...

Re: MPS Comprehensive District Design

They do seem to have corrected some of the more obvious flaws in earlier plans. The biggest geographic "problem" remains the location of North High...it's at the very northern edge of its attendance area, drawing kids from as far south as 36th Street. For comparison, Anwatin Middle has the exact sam...

Re: Latest Census Estimates and Met Council Projections

Seems it would take a big undercount in TX and/or FL to keep Minnesota's 8 seats. Luckily for us, that is on the table, with those GOP-led states not putting state funds into getting an accurate count like most blue states have. And those states have lower self-response rates than MN. Especially wit...

Re: Bergan's Redevelopment - Cedar & Minnehaha Parkway

Oh yeah, that was Yellow Tree’s first new construction development I believe (and next door to a dilapidated old apartment bldg they’d recently rehabbed). I bet we’ll see more small projects from them on 38th Street that’s not necessarily super close to the Blue Line, if good/cheap land is available.

Re: Bergan's Redevelopment - Cedar & Minnehaha Parkway

Is this the first (and only) market rate housing project in South Minneapolis east of 35W and not on the Blue Line? Other than Parkway West (46th & 46th), which was built at the very beginning of this boom cycle (2012-ish), I'm pretty sure it is. There is that Yellow Tree project replacing the gas s...

Re: Go Minneapolis - Transportation Action Plan

There's pretty broad consensus that Marq2 is over capacity though, right? I think MVTA has already moved some routes to 4th/5th due to the delays on Marq2. Why do we think there will be opposition to putting transit lanes on 4th and 5th Aves? I'm guessing it would be just a single curbside lane on e...

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)

I'd go even further - there should be a comprehensive redesign of how the Greenway interacts with Nicollet/Blaisdell/1st. The nearest entrance to here is way over at Bryant Ave (not including stairs at Lyndale/Murals and the gardens at Harriet Ave). The current ramp setup creates one of the tightest...

Re: MPS Comprehensive District Design

I get the intent and necessity behind a lot of this, but it seems like they didn't even look at Metro Transit bus routes(?) I have no idea how they think kids south of 394 are getting up to North, when they got rid of school buses a few years ago. Isn't it true that Metro Transit is now the only bus...

Climate harm reduction is a lot more nuanced than sweeping urbanist fan boy generalizations. Agreed 100% Is adding a calmed direct route to hundreds of new residents and retail spots causing more people to get into their car or just allowing a more carbon efficient way for people to complete their ...

Re: Go Minneapolis - Transportation Action Plan

Who else had to change their underwear after seeing that Midtown was included as a Transit Priority Project? That project hasn't been spoken about in any official capacity since Metro Transit finished their Alternatives Analysis in 2013-14. It still seems the project does not have a champion at Henn...

Re: Forum Maintenance & Technical Issues

There's something wacky going on with URLs right now, where if "http://" is not included inside the [ /url ] brackets, the forum thinks it's an internal link and messes it up.

For example, I just saw this happen with:

go.minneapolismn.gov vs. http://go.minneapolismn.gov

Re: Century Plaza redevelopment - 330 South 12th St

Anyone know what happened to the plans for this property? The latest news online dates to 2017, just like this thread, and suggests that it was going to be renovated but remain office use. Has anyone moved in or is the building currently just being used for its parking ramp? There's a blurb on Hempe...

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)

One thing that occurred to me the other day is that the existing bridge over the greenway (back of Kmart) is like 100 years old, and perhaps has not been maintained & repaired like many of the others have, because it hasn’t been in use for nearly 50 years. At bare minimum, it needs a deck resurfacin...

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

Not necessarily though - if you look at the plans, they actually show an alternative 10-story option that just has a slimmer massing above the 2nd floor (that could be a good thing). So 10 stories instead of 8, but a very similar number of units, possibly even fewer. Comp Plan goal met? Height and d...

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

Sherman plans to submit a development application to the city this fall. Vertical construction could start a year later. If all goes according to plan, the building would open in 2021, LaFave said. Sherman could have gone with an even taller, denser apartment building since the developer is plannin...
