Re: Google Maps, Apple Maps, etc.

Hennepin County (Interactive Property Map) has 2020 aerials up too. I don't think they've ever been updated same-year, certainly not this rapidly. The image is kind of dark and brown though, like oversaturated or something. 2018's were taken too late in spring, leaf-on, so quite a bit of detail was ...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

The roadway (with a bit of sidewalk buffer) on the west side goes right up to the edge of the railroad ROW, so I don't think you could construct it there without reconstructing the entirety of Bottineau to shift it east. I’m assuming Bottineau Blvd would see a near-total reconstruction whether you ...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Here's a map of the alignment I think they should do. North of Robbinsdale it's very similar to the original but would take lanes away from Bottineau Boulevard instead of being on BNSF right-of-way. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1Uz1B8knd-nsxhsdJza183NY11_fTRoie&usp=sharing I like this ali...

Mapping the development boom in Chicago's West Loop: https://chicago.curbed.com/maps/west-loop-construction-development Holy moly! West Loop, particularly the "Fulton Market" area is undergoing a massive development boom. Right now, I'd describe the area to a Minneapolitan as North Loop x3 (+10 year...

Re: Edmund Blvd

Instead of renaming the street, I don’t see any reason Edmund Blvd couldn’t also be called West River Parkway. Edmund is kind of exactly a frontage road to WRP anyways. Those homeowners are paying all that money to live on the Parkway and currently don’t even get the perk/prestige of having a West R...

Re: George Floyd murder and aftermath

Thank you for mentioning the highways. That specifically occurred to me on Friday morning, as a tactic that quite obviously should've been used Friday night to limit/deter access by non-residents, particularly those coming from out-state MN and out of state. That wasn't done until Saturday night. I ...

I also agree with pretty much everything said above. I'm far less angry/disappointed in the response & failure to prevent further destruction (especially the arson) than I was on Friday & Saturday mornings, knowing what we now know about the number of people than came in to riot and burn our city do...

Re: Izzy's Ice Cream Factory

Good lord people, the building is not going to get torn down. It's not even 10 years old or even close to paid off. The owners are obviously deeply in debt and need to raise cash. They said right off the top they're interested in staying on as a tenant if the price is right. The problem (for them, r...

I've driven out to this Papa Murphy's when I lived in Uptown...I have to imagine they'll reopen. If they don't, there's a huge opportunity for an aspiring franchisee to open a location literally anywhere in uptown/southwest Mpls or SLP (and that's potentially worth 2 locations). The closest location...

This project is known at Metro Transit as "Heywood II". This has been in the works for a long time, and Metro Transit has been assembling the land back there for 15 years, according to that presentation linked above. The only downside to this project, if there is one, is that it isn't being built to...
