Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail

^That's what I thought...they'd have to rebuild the third leg of the "iron triangle" there. Rebuilding that connection wouldn't be super difficult (no ROW challenges at least). I'd guess that would actually be easier than figuring out how to manage the section of track south of there (between SWLRT/...

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail

I could envision a DMU service that provides a transfer to SWLRT (at Louisiana / Wooddale Stations...one could reasonably walk to either). At least initially, this would be a terminal station, not continuing downtown due to cost/complications. Probably doesn't cross the MN River either for the same ...

Re: Mortenson / USBank site - 333 Hennepin Ave E (~28 stories / 280 units)

FWIW they did oppose the earlier version of the building, hence why it was sent back and revised. Beyond that, if it meets zoning ordinance sections regulating building materials, percentages, etc. there is little the city can do. I saw recently the city was again revising some of that language.

You're right that by locking the thread, it left you without a way to defend yourself. I apologize for that, but moderating from a phone while on the toilet at work leaves few options and the thread had to be locked before it went further. Peter (FISHMANPET) has been banned for 2 weeks for violating...

Re: Edina Crossroads Project - 7200, 7201, 7250 France

The trail too. I'm sure the city has a permanent easement for both. Redevelopment & re-platting could mean that they'd officially sell (or more likely donate) that property to the city. Since this project is dead for the moment, I feel somewhat comfortable going O/T . Fun fact: everything between Xe...

Re: Edina Crossroads Project - 7200, 7201, 7250 France

A little more info & my reaction: Dawn Hendershot, a Ramco-Gershenson spokeswoman, said the company did not approve the proposal submitted this week. She said the only aspect of the project the company discussed with EG Capital was the potential for a bike path connection across France Avenue South....

Re: Edina Crossroads Project - 7200, 7201, 7250 France

Per a locked Biz Journal article, this is already on hold as one of the property owners pulled back. Almost certainly had to be the owner of the Centennial Shops, not the owner of 7200-7250 France offices

Haven't heard a whole lot about this project lately but here it is, up for Planning Commission approval next Monday 7/17: http://www.minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@cped/documents/webcontent/wcmsp-201736.pdf (54MB file) And here's the small restaurant building that will be just west of the 5-st...

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina

I understand that the parking lot showing up in that rendering isn't actually part of the project -- it's the parcel on the NE corner of the intersection that isn't controlled by the developers. AKA the Macy's Furniture property What confuses me is that the bridge is launching from the NW corner, b...

Bull's Horn and Venn Brewing coming to 46th St and 34th Ave (ok, Venn is a block east) is gonna be huge for my neighborhood. I'm hoping they go all out on the renovation of the building exterior of the former Sunrise Inn...it needs a lot of work and de-biege-ification. Now we just need a coffeeshop ...

If this does break ground soon, that would be a pretty quick pace from first reveal to construction (roughly 6 months). Kudos to CPM for that. Meanwhile, Master Properties hasn't broken ground yet on either of their projects in the area, one of which (FrankLyn) is going on 3.5 years since we first h...

Re: 2017 St. Paul Mayoral Election

Does Elizabeth Dickinson (Green Party) possibly have an outside chance here? Or will party-loyal DFLers mostly rank amongst the DFL candidates? Reading her streets.mn questionnaire (and knowing nothing else about her), I could be swayed into ranking her ahead of Carter or Thao at this point. Could s...

Traffic is pretty obnoxious between ~84th and ~70th. It seems less bad once you get to Galleria / Southdale to Crosstown. I don't drive SB France really ever, but on NB France between 494 and 62, that has been my experience.

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina

In addition to national downward trends at malls, it does seem that Southdale in particular is way down compared to other 'dales. Also, retirees make fewer car trips, and seniors even fewer. I'd guess the population has aged considerably in a lot of the condo developments from the previous couple de...

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017

Hoch and/or Dehn probably get out of the race if they have a really weak showing at the convention, right? Not necessarily because they don't think they could win, but because with underwhelming support, they likely can't bankroll an effective campaign for another 4 months. If there's no money to ca...

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina

Remember that there will be a new route (tentatively 612) from West Lake SWLRT Station down France to Southdale and perhaps further down France. With that in operation, Id suggest the 6 could be simplified/consolidated on Xerxes/York. Longer term I really think they ought to find a new home for the ...
