Re: Rush Line Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

Agreed that this should be Silver, not Purple, to be sorta consistent with the Gold Line, the other east metro BRT line. Purple ought to be reserved for an LRT line (Riverview, Midtown)

Re: Sons of Norway block redevelopment - 1455 Lake St W

Re: United North Loop Office Building - 729 Washington Av N

O/T, but has anyone heard anything lately about CPM's "rival" office/parking project a few blocks away ? Both projects were approved, appealed, and re-approved kind of around the same time last year. It's fair to assume that both spec projects were chasing some of the same prospective tenants, and t...

Re: 2017 St. Paul Mayoral Election

I really hope the Thao (and Dickinson) voters are going to rank Carter 2nd (and vice versa). Harris would be a disaster, but could very well be the first choice among older/wealthier/white folks who aren't explicitly voting for a progressive (older Democrats/liberals who aren't part of any "progress...

CPM & partners selling 125 Oak Grove for 30% more than they paid a few years ago. Sale includes small parking lots (separate parcels) at 101 and 208 Oak Grove. I suppose it's feasible that either lot could be developed, but if CPM didn't jump at that opportunity (or opt to retain either lot for futu...

Re: Amazon's New HQ?

A random thought I had (unrelated to MSP's chances) is if Amazon's presence could speed up the "purpling" of a (red but tilting swing) state like Georgia (ATL) or North Carolina (Charlotte/Raleigh), especially if the development outcome is similar to Seattle (dense urban campus in a transit/bike fri...

Three Rivers agrees, they don't want the bridge: http://www.startribune.com/three-rivers-park-district-critiques-bike-pedestrian-bridge-in-edina/442803593/ There is already a marked crossing with stop lights which Vlaming stressed was safe and sufficient for travelers. “Three Rivers staff would be h...

Re: Metro Transit fares

Gotta add that stored value by Sept. 30 to get the 10% bonus! I could see the logic in reducing the bonus (to 5%, etc.) to make it less of a giveaway, but removing it entirely is ????? A modest bonus would more than pay for itself in moving people away from cash fares (which obviously cost MT quite ...

Re: Thrivent's Surface Parking Lots

If Thrivent is downsizing, why not lease space in an existing building? If new is a must, why not build office space on the half-block parking ramp they are proposing? Wouldn't that be more cost-efficient (and convenient) for their employees?

None of this makes any sense yet.

Plans for a residential conversion were never actually brought forward to the city for approval. It could happen some day, but isn't imminent. http://finance-comm...

http://minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@cped/documents/webcontent/wcmsp-196827.pdf#page=58 The school doesn't take up the whole space. The school actually faces 28th Ave and takes up the "back half" of the building, with the 27th Ave frontage being subdivided into two medium-sized retail spaces....

Re: Cedar/Minnehaha/Franklin Intersection

Overall this is a pretty massive improvement, but I'm just realizing there's not a safe pedestrian crossing of Franklin between Cedar and 22nd Ave. Not a huge change from existing conditions, but previously you could at least cross Franklin at M'haha. This project slightly increases the distance bet...

Re: Hi-Lake and Minnehaha Mall Area (Target, Cub, etc.)

The "A food market" sign on the rendering looks conspicuously like Aldi. I'm gonna speculate that Aldi would like to relocate here since they cannot expand in their current mixed-use digs on the west side of Hiawatha. Both properties are owned by Wellington, so that would certainly simplify things w...

So, the plan to move the fire station into this building as well was scrapped? Too bad, it seems like the existing fire station is an impediment to redevelopment of that block of Washington. I would also like to know the answer to this part. If you look back to the beginning of this thread, Fire St...

At this point, hard to discern whether Sons of Norway will remain on the site in the existing building, or whether new office space will be constructed for them as part of the project. This line from the F&C article makes it sound like it's the existing building: Sons of Norway CEO Eivind Heiberg sa...

LynLake branding (logo stamped concrete) extends eastward to Grand Avenue. Pretty hard to argue these sites are not in LynLake when the logo is literally stamped into the adjacent sidewalk. Though due to all of the parking lots, car lots, vacant lots, etc. in the area, it currently does feel like th...

Re: Planned Parenthood - New Uptown Clinic (1210 Lagoon Ave)

I thought I had heard PP doesn't actually perform abortions at this location... Anyone know with certainty? The answer to that question is going to shape this clinic development more than anything else. If yes, then it's almost guaranteed to be a standalone single-use where they can build out the ne...
