Re: Roseville / Rosedale - General Topics

Ped bridge over 36 is a must, unless MnDOT is going to replace the full 36/51 cloverleaf with something else. 36 remains a full freeway in any scenario, but Snelling shouldn’t be. Surely they could come up with something that moves traffic nearly as efficiently and frees up some real estate, while a...

Re: Rice Creek Commons (TCAAP site) - Arden Hills

I've shared this thought on Twitter, but apparently not here yet. Ramsey County should ask the legislature to de-incorporate this property from Arden Hills. It would cease to be part of a city and just be unincorporated Ramsey County land. Under Minnesota law, it probably has to go back to being a t...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Development Site

What? The retail space is dead in the middle of the 4th St frontage. Ah yes, continuing the proud tradition of the Wells Fargo twins, putting retail space mid-block and not on either corner, and then wondering why restaurants struggle. Seriously why do the new Wells Fargo buildings have residential...

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

Quoting myself from the previous page, these are the remaining 5 from the initial study. I laid out the reasons why they may or may not still be considered for aBRT. Broadway would be a super obvious candidate if not for that pesky streetcar study. Nicollet-Central should be happening no matter what...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Development Site

A small convenience store or coffee shop or something of that nature would be much appreciated here. I hate how desolate that LRT Station is. Really though, this entire parking ramp lobby should've been retail space: https://www.google.com/maps/@44.9753583,-93.2588349,3a,90y,335.52h,90.77t/data=!3m6...

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus

While it sometimes feels like the D Line is imminent (8th Street reconstruction this year, Portland 60th-66th re-striping next year, etc), the realist in me is reminded of how long the A Line and C Line have taken to get from "hey it looks like everything is built" to actually beginning passenger ser...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Oh wow that would be a huge loss for downtown if both of those CVS stores closed. The Hennepin one I could see having lost a lot of convenience food/drink sales to Lunds over the past 5 years. The closure could be related to CVS taking over Target's pharmacy operations (i.e. the pharmacy at Target i...

Re: The Expo - 215 2nd St SE (285' - 26 Stories)

Is there any reason why they need to develop both blocks at the same time? Would be better to see more focus on one of the blocks, and leave the other block empty even if for another development cycle. Exactly what I was going to suggest. If there’s only sufficient demand for X units, then build X ...

How so? Same mayor, same governor, both of whom were Amazon subsidy supporters and got reelected in that timeframe (both Cuomo and BDB were reelected in landslides). I mean, AOC is like the perfect scapegoat straight out of central casting, but really what impact did her words/tweets have on this? S...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)

How are there not smoke detectors on the trains? Or if there are, they clearly aren’t sensitive enough. You’d think a loud, ongoing alarm would be a solid deterrent (and alert Metro Transit to the smoker’s location). Even if the smoker was undeterred by an alarm, the other passengers would be much m...

Agreed. If the gas tax is increased by 10 cents or 20 cents or whatever, that ought to be the end of Corridors of Commerce and all other means of siphoning money out of the general fund and hogging up bonding capacity.

The funny thing on this one is that the article literally did not contain any new information, other than to state that the project has started. It did not include comments from the developer or anyone. Anyone want to do some sleuthing to find out if this project has a name? Check demo/building perm...

Re: California Street Silos

Wow, this sounds like a great project. I'm surprised to see the townhomes are for-sale and not rental. Very unexpected. It says 4 of them will be affordable under a land-trust model, which is also cool. I wonder what the asking price will be for the 'market-rate' townhomes... north of $325k I'd gues...
