Re: Sons of Norway block redevelopment - 1455 Lake St W

At this point, hard to discern whether Sons of Norway will remain on the site in the existing building, or whether new office space will be constructed for them as part of the project. This line from the F&C article makes it sound like it's the existing building: Sons of Norway CEO Eivind Heiberg sa...

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map

LynLake branding (logo stamped concrete) extends eastward to Grand Avenue. Pretty hard to argue these sites are not in LynLake when the logo is literally stamped into the adjacent sidewalk. Though due to all of the parking lots, car lots, vacant lots, etc. in the area, it currently does feel like th...

Re: Planned Parenthood - New Uptown Clinic (1210 Lagoon Ave)

I thought I had heard PP doesn't actually perform abortions at this location... Anyone know with certainty? The answer to that question is going to shape this clinic development more than anything else. If yes, then it's almost guaranteed to be a standalone single-use where they can build out the ne...

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina

This article indicates Shake Shack would be a standalone 5,000 sf restaurant site in the NW quadrant of Southdale (SE corner of France & 66). There's an image included. Looks like a pretty terrible use of land. Not sure what Simon is thinking here... https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2017/...

Re: Northeast (and Southeast) - General Topics

I know the idea of housing wrapping the parking ramp across the street has flown the coop... Was this idea originally floated by the consortium? Look at how much space is between the existing ramp and the sidewalk next time you go by. There's no room for a townhouse there! The "Rampton Apartments" ...

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017

Riffing off mattaudio's comment in the City Council thread, I wanted to weigh in on Frey's newfound alliance with Cano. It seemed more germane to this thread. For me, Frey's alliance with Alondra Cano disqualifies him for mayor. I was on the fence between Frey and Hodges, even leaning Jacob's way af...

Re: The Capp - 46th & Hiawatha Mixed Use

The development and restaurant building were approved by the Planning Commission yesterday. Only a small handful of people showed up to oppose (traffic and parking), but those that did were C-R-A-Z-Y. Worth watching a bit of the testimony. Still no word on the grocery store brand, though Cub would s...

Re: Southside - General Topics

Bull's Horn and Venn Brewing coming to 46th St and 34th Ave (ok, Venn is a block east) is gonna be huge for my neighborhood. I'm hoping they go all out on the renovation of the building exterior of the former Sunrise Inn...it needs a lot of work and de-biege-ification. Now we just need a coffeeshop...

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail

^That's what I thought...they'd have to rebuild the third leg of the "iron triangle" there. Rebuilding that connection wouldn't be super difficult (no ROW challenges at least). I'd guess that would actually be easier than figuring out how to manage the section of track south of there (between SWLRT/...

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail

I could envision a DMU service that provides a transfer to SWLRT (at Louisiana / Wooddale Stations...one could reasonably walk to either). At least initially, this would be a terminal station, not continuing downtown due to cost/complications. Probably doesn't cross the MN River either for the same ...

Re: Mortenson / USBank site - 333 Hennepin Ave E (~28 stories / 280 units)

FWIW they did oppose the earlier version of the building, hence why it was sent back and revised. Beyond that, if it meets zoning ordinance sections regulating building materials, percentages, etc. there is little the city can do. I saw recently the city was again revising some of that language.

You're right that by locking the thread, it left you without a way to defend yourself. I apologize for that, but moderating from a phone while on the toilet at work leaves few options and the thread had to be locked before it went further. Re: Edina Crossroads Project - 7200, 7201, 7250 France

The trail too. I'm sure the city has a permanent easement for both. Redevelopment & re-platting could mean that they'd officially sell (or more likely donate) that property to the city. Since this project is dead for the moment, I feel somewhat comfortable going O/T . Fun fact: everything between Xe...

She said the only aspect of the project the company discussed with EG Capital was the potential for a bike path connection across France Avenue South....

Per a locked Biz Journal article, this is already on hold as one of the property owners pulled back. Almost certainly had to be the owner of the Centennial Shops, not the owner of 7200-7250 France offices

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina

I understand that the parking lot showing up in that rendering isn't actually part of the project -- it's the parcel on the NE corner of the intersection that isn't controlled by the developers. AKA the Macy's Furniture property What confuses me is that the bridge is launching from the NW corner, b...
