Re: 2009 Lyndale Avenue - CPM Development

If this does break ground soon, that would be a pretty quick pace from first reveal to construction (roughly 6 months). Kudos to CPM for that. Meanwhile, Master Properties hasn't broken ground yet on either of their projects in the area, one of which (FrankLyn) is going on 3.5 years since we first h...

Re: 2017 St. Paul Mayoral Election

Does Elizabeth Dickinson (Green Party) possibly have an outside chance here? Or will party-loyal DFLers mostly rank amongst the DFL candidates? Reading her streets.mn questionnaire (and knowing nothing else about her), I could be swayed into ranking her ahead of Carter or Thao at this point. Could s...

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina

Traffic is pretty obnoxious between ~84th and ~70th. It seems less bad once you get to Galleria / Southdale to Crosstown. I don't drive SB France really ever, but on NB France between 494 and 62, that has been my experience.

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina

In addition to national downward trends at malls, it does seem that Southdale in particular is way down compared to other 'dales. Also, retirees make fewer car trips, and seniors even fewer. I'd guess the population has aged considerably in a lot of the condo developments from the previous couple de...

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017

Hoch and/or Dehn probably get out of the race if they have a really weak showing at the convention, right? Not necessarily because they don't think they could win, but because with underwhelming support, they likely can't bankroll an effective campaign for another 4 months. If there's no money to ca...

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina

Remember that there will be a new route (tentatively 612) from West Lake SWLRT Station down France to Southdale and perhaps further down France. With that in operation, Id suggest the 6 could be simplified/consolidated on Xerxes/York. Longer term I really think they ought to find a new home for the ...

Anyone else ever have trouble commenting via mobile? I can type a comment just fine but the blue "post your comment" button does nothing, even after repeated taps, refreshing and trying again, etc.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project

It was added to expand capacity for the Green and Blue extensions. I'm not sure if they're going to open it up soon or if it'll just sit for a couple more years until SWLRT goes into service. It was supposed to open in March https://www.metrotransit.org/work-underway-on-new-nicollet-mall-station-pl...

Re: Counties Transit Improvement Board (CTIB)

Clarification: The language converting the Met Council to a "Council of Governments" model, that is made up exclusively of elected county commissioners and city councilors, is still in the bill passed by the House. Per Senate Maj Ldr Gazelka, Dayton will veto the bill because of that language. The c...

Re: Counties Transit Improvement Board (CTIB)

It appears we may have a transportation bill after all. The anti-LRT language has been deleted in conference committee, and Linda Runbeck (R-Circle Pines) is pissed. So if she's pissed at her own party leadership, maybe that bodes well for getting a bill through. One thing this article does not addr...

I moved the posts. I had nothing to to with the other thing. That doesn't mean I'm going to abdicate moderating duties entirely. FWIW, I didn't just randomly decide to move that conversation here. I also did a bunch of merging & cleaning of the entire "Updates - Announcements - Problems - Suggestion...

Pretty funny that they'll end up occupying the building for a shorter period of time than it took to renovate.

Re: Counties Transit Improvement Board (CTIB)

Dakota County claims they are owed another $29MM, while CTIB offered $13MM, mostly from Hennepin County's pot. Can we just meet Dakota halfway, as unfair and wrongheaded as they're being? That potential extra $8MM payout from Hennepin County will quickly be recouped within the first half-year of ta...

Will Jaeger is really stumbling through his pitch speech to W12. Incredibly embarrassing for him. The room was very kind in applauding him applauding him off stage. This dude has no idea what he's doing. I'm not sure if he has a single supporter here. EDIT: Andrew Johnson was endorsed on the first b...
