Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map

IMO Gold line and Purple line are wasting money in areas where transit priority isnt needed. Those lines are at least radial and connect a major destination on one end. 2 and 21 are successful because they connect commerical corridors and have high density housing. 30, 32, 46 all connect lower densi...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map

The north to northeast bus lines are all low demand and are pretty much "express" in the fact that most stops don't have people getting on or off.

Re: Cheap groceries and walkability

The Uptown Cub is a logistical nightmare because they can only load from the alley. The storage space is very small, so they have daily deliveries. Other Cub stores get deliveries once or twice a week. I think the only reason the Uptown location works is the high volume it does.

Re: Shakopee

The Shakopee downtown is a total dead zone with a couple blocks of minor retail in the historic buildings, some senior housing, the county building. The grid residential area is pretty low density as well. I can't fathom why the city would have any opposition to downtown development while they let t...

I've never heard about the Brown Line issue in Chicago, but Atlanta changed the Yellow Line to the Gold Line because of complaints from the Asian community.

Re: Fantasy maps

The 353 is a combination trip of the 351 and 355 at a time when demand is lower and separate routes cannot be justified. I like the idea of sending the Gold or Purple/Rush line down I-94 to Minneapolis, because it will really help connect the East Side/Metro to Mpls. The big problem is going to be r...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

SW Transit adding two reverse commute round trips on the 690 (Mpls - SW Station) because of the new limited schedule/lengthy travel time of the SW Flex routes to/from Downtown Minneapolis.

Re: Metro Transit fares

Yes this reduces the incentive to use the go-to card, but I guess it makes using the app more palatable, especially for frequent riders.

Re: East End / Thresher Square / Trader Joes - 713 Washington Ave S

I remember when everything was under construction a block north, back in 2004-2005. It's so cool to see the parking lots disappear finally. Good photo. What were they building back then? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Guthrie, Bridgewater, the parking ramp wrapped with units at Washington and C...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Overall, I think the SW Flex routes are a good idea, and might be more attractive to riders. Taking the 6 between Downtown and Southdale will probably result in an additional 25 minutes or so travel time. Riders commuting from 35W/Lake St stop are probably going to see an extra 15-25 minutes on top ...

Reading through the Council agenda item, it looks like the reduced (youth/senior/medicare) fare reduction at peak hours was canned. Those passengers will remain at full fare during peak hours. The increase is a 25 cent across the board increase, for bus, light rail, and northstar. Metro Mobility (li...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

The 3 previously was hourly on the branches (just a few years ago) and every half hour on the branches. I think the improved service on Rice (62 is every 15 min now) weakened demand, especially on the 3A. The 3A should be extended over to Maryland and Arcade or Phalen to better connect the east side...
