Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Arterial Rapid Bus

A lot of routes were historically through routes, and were separated partially because of issues of timeliness. Another big issue of through routing is demand mismatch between the different portions the route. There is precedence for separation as well: The 18 used to serve NE, on what is now the 11...

Re: C Line - Arterial Rapid Bus & Penn Ave Community Works Project

There were 11 lines in the Arterial BRT study. Snelling has been implemented, leaving 10 more (Hennepin, Nicollet, Central, Broadway, Penn, Chicago-Fremont, Lake, American, E 7th-W 7th, Robert).

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

I'm not sure about the history of the New Starts program (FTA Sec. 5309 grant) to go into detail about the process, which currently requires that some projects (i.e. those over some value) go through a process which requires mode selection to be a consideration. I do know that some small value proje...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

What could happen is convert a lane in each direction to bus only and raise it to street level, for an at-grade stop at Franklin. There are a few bus stops like this in the Seattle area (Totem Lake on 405 comes to mind)

Re: Amazon's New HQ?

FWIW, Chicago submitted 8 sites, which pretty much consisted of any large block of undeveloped land in the downtown area. And also another 3 suburban sites, which I imagine have no actual chance of being selected.

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

The Burnsville Center area is difficult to serve by transit. Most of the jobs are retail, which draws workers from the local area, and would be better served by good connections. Placing the station between the highway and the shopping mall is a bad idea unless the city and the mall owners can come ...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

The Orange Line Extension study is making some movement, and an update is being presented at this month's DCRRA meeting: Looks like stations are being considered at both County Road 42 and at Crystal Lake Road. I would imagine that they are considering using the street next to 35W (Buck Hill Road) f...

Re: Mall of America Transit Station: Master Plan

There will be an access (stair/escalator/elevator) from the 1st floor east side (by the underwater adventures) to the new waiting area.

Re: Mall of America Transit Station: Master Plan

The new station will feature a separate bus entrance, more bus gates, no more bus/train interference, and a direct path to the interior of the mall. It should be really nice, and make the bus connections a lot more convenient.

Apparently, a proposal went past Burnsville City Council in July for 358-446 apartments in buildings up to 80' high on the east side of 35E between 42 and Southcross. Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Common scam run by gangs on CTA here in Chicago. Usually a sob story about getting funds for a youth basketball tournament, but in reality there is no tournament.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

CTA buses have the same set up with wheelchair restraints, but I've never seen a driver get up to use them. CTA buses are pretty slow though, I wonder how much of a factor that is.

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)

I don't think that the McAndrews corridor was ever studied. It could have been a potential alternative in the Cedar Ave alternatives analysis from the late 90s. The wikipedia article for this "McAndrews corridor" was written by someone who was putting a lot of fake info about MVTA bus routes and tra...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

I've noticed that at other games at the Metrodome, Metro Transit has run express buses from 28th Ave to the stadium. Also, I'm surprised that the trains have to stop at each station, but not open the doors. In Chicago, CTA will run express (when late) and slightly reduce speed when going through sta...

Due to construction on 8th St in downtown in 2019, the C Line will run on 6th until 8th St is completed.
I take it that the other buses on 8th St (5, 9, 19, 22) will also be rerouted to 6th St during construction?

Thanks for the pictures. I was wondering how it would turn out. I haven't been in Minneapolis for a few months, and it was pretty much a linear dirt mound at that time.

It's reaaaaaaly grey. I hope it is more colorful when finished.

Per the latest SW Transit board packet, the Blue Flex route will be canceled and Optum will likely be added to the Red route schedule:
