Re: Sears

The office and retail are probably the bigger money makers for this project. More retail stores should bring more customers to the existing store. I doubt the office tenants will be government. More likely firms that need to be located near the various gov agencies and legislature. At least that's m...

Re: Shadow Falls (201 Otis)

You beat me to it. I drove by earlier today and saw the crane there. Nice to see some residential activity taking off in St. Paul. 2013 looks like it'll be a good year.

Sounds like the city will have to find a new dumping ground when it snows. :D

Re: Saint Paul Retail News

Well the company I work for is in the process of leaving downtown. A fairly empty building is about to be even more so very soon. Depressing considering all the money being poured into the area. It has seen a number of buildings reoccupied in recent years. But some sites have been sitting vacant for...

The comments are...unsettling. Somehow the comments on PiPress are less civil than those on Strib. You'd expect the opposite since Strib is completely anonymous, while PiPress uses Facebook comments and one's real identity. It's easy to block users on the PP facebook comments section. I've blocked ...

Re: Saint Paul Retail News

My impression of Ecolab is there pretty budget conscious. I'd love to see them expand in downtown. They probably could stand to have 10-25k sq ft more in space. But I just don't see them as moving into a new construction or expensively remodeled space. They seem to be pretty conservative. I wonder i...

Re: Saint Paul Retail News

They've been doing it since at least the 80s. Never a better time to quit the habit than now. Lowertown is doing fine without subsidies. The government money is flowing quite well in Lowertown. The Union Depot, CCLRT, Lowertown Ballpark, Lofts at Farmers Market. Smaller grants/loans have been given...

Re: Saint Paul Retail News

I agree that a Target store here could do very well. But I would be worried if they included a large grocery department. I'd hate to see it competing against the new Lunds. It would have the advantage of being skyway connected, which would be a huge plus. And the prospects of subsidies from the city...
