Re: Stadium Village Tower - 600 Washington Ave SE (284' - 26 Stories)

Yeah, but all the information you get there is that the permit was pulled. There's a building near me that got a Historic permit on Aug 2 and isn't going to HPC until October 25th. And that meeting still doesn't have an agenda posted, thankfully the neighborhood is aware of when the hearing is. Jus...

Re: Prior Crossing

You're probably thinking of Hamline Station. Not only did they close the entire very wide sidewalk, they kept it closed much longer than they needed to.

Re: Car Sharing / Rental (Car2Go, HourCar, etc.)

Check out the map of the proposed service area (last page): https://stpaul.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=4167603&GUID=983223C6-D3D6-4EC6-B744-305FCB9DFAF3 Yikes. That's a really drastic reduction. If a similar reduction were made in Minneapolis, I'm not sure we would really use our membership anymor...

Re: Rush Line Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

It's unfortunate that the B-1 segment is preferred over the K-1 segment, for the sole reason that it's easier to take parkland than privately held vacant land. The K-1 segment seems superior to B-1 from just about any other angle (other than perhaps being an additional 150 feet or so from Metro Stat...

Re: Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) Clinic Expansion

They must be doing some fairly intensive work to their existing building to prepare for the expansion-- a tower crane went up on the NE corner of Park & 8th yesterday.

Re: Chicago

At least as of a few years ago, you could do it at the lots managed by CPS. Call them and ask. A friend of mine did this while visiting me once. She had to call and pay over the phone each day she was parked there, but there was no additional fee for being there overnight. IIRC, she didn't have to p...

Re: Zoning Code

So then the question is, what can you do on a 6200 sq ft lot zoned R2B? Exactly the same thing you could do if it was zoned R1, R1B, or R2. A single family home! And just one! A single family home with smaller district minimum front and rear yards than in lower-density districts. An older duplex wo...

There's a piece of painted steel with a flag and christmas tree on it sitting in the lot behind the west tower. Must be topping out this week.

Re: Mill City Quarter - (300 South 2nd Street)

I agree with trigonalmayhem. When I first moved back here, it seemed like I was getting in some sort of altercation with drivers every other day, primarily in the mornings. I think I must have subconsciously adjusted my walking since then, because it hasn't happened nearly as often recently. The num...

Re: Giordano's Pizza (and Bank of America) - 2700 Hennepin A

Most of the other locations on their site just specify the city name for non-Chicago cities, but under "Coming Soon", it says "Minneapolis - Uptown". I might just be reading too much into it. The Florida locations all vaguely describe the area they are located in. Indy seems to be the exception by ...

Not looking at it right now, but iirc they are conditonally allowed in C4 and one of the downtown service districts, but there are also some pretty restrictive development standards. Edit: They're conditional in C4 and B4C. 250' buffer from R and OR, 500' from schools, day cares, libraries, and parks.

Off-sale needs 5 contiguous acres C2+, and outside of B4 districts, is subject to 2000' buffers from other off-sale licenses and 300' buffers from schools & churches.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

There's a "pop-up" British consulate set up in one of the retail spaces on the skyway level of RCB. Looks like it's this week only.
