Re: Downtown Office Market

I've been around Normandale Lake a bit over the years, and it's pretty nice for a suburban office complex. I'm sure the park and lake being right next to it are part of the draw, plus there are a number of restaurants and hotels nearby. That said, I think most office space in the suburbs is going to...

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image

And the time period that was measured was before Target relaxed their dress code, too. I wonder if it's fallen a tiny bit more since then.

As for the mutton, they inlcude game in that category too, so I'm sure that's a big driver for that.

Re: Minneapolis - St. Paul Business News

Wow, would have thought it would be a lot closer to US bank, but is close to half the value of UHG! Who da thunk!
It's still pretty high for a retailer. Amazon and Walmart are higher, of course, and I think Costco is too, but I am not sure about any others.

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)

How would they build the proposed Cliff and Palomino stations? There's the existing shelter by Christus Victor for the Palomino stop, but there you get a similar issue with the current Cedar Grove station in that it will take extra time to leave and get back on Cedar. Also, the exit ramps to and fro...

Re: 2014 MN House Election

I, for one, am thrilled to learn that the state government will be shutting down again next summer.
I'm not so sure about that -- I think the Republicans paid for that in the 2012 election when they tried it (not that it was the only issue in play, but it contributed).

Re: 2014 MN House Election

I live in 51A, which borders 56B to the east, and I see far more Masin (DFL incumbent) signs around than Todd-Harlin ones (GOP challenger), plus I've received more Masin mailers as well. In the past, it used to be more balanced. Maybe the political winds are shifting, maybe it's a lack of enthusiasm...

Re: Paragon Outlets - Eagan

Maybe it's hyperbole, but then again, maybe not. It was certainly packed all weekend, and while it obviously won't stay that busy, I think it's positioned to do very well. I stopped in on Friday night, and while I said earlier that I didn't find the outside of the mall that inviting, that all change...

Re: Paragon Outlets - Eagan

Thought it would be timely to return to this, since it is opening tomorrow. I took a walk down there last night (without my phone, so I couldn't take any pictures) and went right up to the mall itself and the parking ramp. They are still doing a lot of finishing touches on it -- some of the signage ...

Re: OATI Office Building - Bloomington

I feel like tech companies opening in the suburbs are just begging for second or third tier talent. Considering that the absolute top tier tech people are in urban cores like Seattle, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, etc etc, even locating outside of one of those markets means your not getting the...

Re: Public Transit News and Happenings

Is the train service that Laughlin describes Dakota county politicians as objecting to the Dan Patch line, or something else? Because I always thought the main reason for not building rail along Cedar (i.e. the Red Line route) was the cost of the bridge crossing. I'm not aware of any political oppos...

Re: Bloomington Central Station - Bloomington

*edit: I didn't realize these were the same projects already discussed.......six stories with a massive parking garage (seems to negate the primary benefit of living right next to transit, especially right under a flight pathway). That area is still pretty isolated as far as access to shopping (oth...

Re: Paragon Outlets - Eagan

I believe the city's concern is less about convenience for the mall's owners and more about the impact on the surrounding area -- they don't want mall employees and shoppers parking in other businesses' parking lots, nearby residential streets, the apartment building parking lots, etc. That said, I ...

It sounds like the mall is almost completely leased out, which is a good sign, and they've even had to turn stores away: http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/n ... tores.html

If my memory is right, the same holding company that own Aldi also has a stake in TJ. That is something for Google explorers. Sort of. Aldi is technically comprised of two German companies, Aldi Nord (North) and Aldi Sud (South; there should be an umlaut there but I don't know how to type it) that ...

Re: Paragon Outlets - Eagan

It will be interesting to see what else is built in this area, as there is still nearby land that can be built on, and some existing buildings nearby that could possibly be redeveloped as well. I can see the hotel doing well here. I'm still skeptical about the apartment building, but would be happy ...

Just curious, ever have problems with your ion starting in the winter? I had one for two winters and had to get rid of it before last winter because I was sick of it not ever starting when it got below -10!! My ex had an '05 Ion and never had trouble with it, even with it being outside much of the ...

'99 Ford Taurus for me. I live in a suburb, but work in an adjacent suburb, so I only put about 7-8K miles on it per year, with about half of that coming from non-work driving. When I worked downtown, it was much less, since I took transit. I could take the bus to my office, but it would actually co...

Re: Living in Loring Park area?

I wasn't aware Target paid for apartments. Do they subsidize them so their age-20-something employees can actually find them affordable? As far as the Churchill, I was in it a few times to visit friends. A bit of a dump, in my opinion. It has the odor of musty carpet combined with spicy curry. Sorr...

Re: Living in Loring Park area?

It's a nice building in a great location. It's also definitely a Target dorm, so you'll be around lots of Target employees in their 20's/early 30's.

Re: Cedar Avenue BRT (Red Line)

I'm sure there will be quite a surge in use between MOA and Cedar Grove at least once the new mall opens this summer. That area is going to end up being pretty densely developed between what is there now, what's being built, and what will likely follow in the coming years. I've taken the Red Line a ...
