Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

Anyone heard rumors about Brasa getting new location in the area? That would be a real blow if they don't land nearby. They did have the world's most awkward surface lot, though, so at least that will go with their old location.

Re: Allianz Field and Snelling-Midway Development

Grade separation at Snelling between train and cars can't come soon enough. I wonder what that would cost, either for underground or elevated station. We should slowly inch our LRT toward full grade separation.

Re: Ayd Mill Road

One additional benefit to doing a major project like this would be that grade-separated bikeways could be added that finally bridge the rail ROW as well, as per the Bike Plan (via Pascal). Connecting to future Greenway extension, this could become a major cycling crossroads. How much, if at all, wou...

Re: Ayd Mill Road

I don't think you'd have to take many houses to make a single-lane-each-way connection. Businesses should be able to relocate. Some collateral damage would occur, certainly. Barring a major sea change in mode share, though, I'd be reasonably in favor of getting the car sewer out of Snelling's prime ...

Re: Ayd Mill Road

Seems obvious to say, but either connect it to I-94 via the frontage roads or cut off the 35E freeway-style entrance. I'm no proponent for it, but connecting this more directly to I-94 would add a badly-needed additional N-S arterial that doesn't use Cretin, Hamline, Snelling, Lex or Dale, which are...

Re: Ayd Mill Road

We need to be planning for the next time they spend money on it. It was probably too late in the game to prevent the mill & overlay even two years from now. We need to think big picture for the next phase.

Re: Bicycle design and innovations

The main drawback in the original green bikes was that 1. they were heavy, and thus 2. were geared very short. If they can offset the weight with some e-assist, that's outstanding. Ebikes are great.

Re: City Club Apartments - 1000 Marquette Ave (Handicraft Building)

From my experience, the people who spend the least time indoors in the winter are typically the happiest with our climate. Big houses = isolation and lack of community and togetherness feel IMO.

Isn't this already under construction? The loss of retail is actually a fairly substantial hit to the area if approved.

Just pack a clear bag inside a collapsible bike-friendly bag, then stuff the bike bag inside the clear bag once you're there. Profit!

Any further details? Probably about 30 stories with that many units? Hopefully retail frontage as well.

For one, I'd like to know where the data was sourced that was used for that page. Reviewing that study, if it exists, would be worthwhile.

That's a BIG "IF." That long-promised 35k TM3? Vaporware thus far. Go out and buy a Hyundai Kona EV in a month or two (37k), get full tax credit, readable gauges, less pretension, and better range. The Kona is a low-volume compliance car. It won’t even be available in most states initially, and whe...

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System

Keep the skyways but make ingress/egress 10x easier and I'm sold. The mental barrier of having to find/know where to get in/out besides the IDS is a turn off and more crossing up/down would help both thrive. Hopefully Dayton's can help a bit with this.

Re: Bloomington Central Station & South Loop Development

For anyone who hasn't visited (in non-winter I guess), the Bloomington Central Station Park is actually worth seeing and experiencing. Not huge but no expense was spared. One of the best financed parks I've seen in the state. Helps that it's right on the Blue Line. If that can be further emphasized ...
