Re: Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park

Wow. So much better. Great richness of materials. Simple but solid looking. Great for the neighborhood.

I'm so down. I hope they get started immediately.

(Not downtown though? Technically?)

Re: OX-OP Gallery and Residences.

This is going to be a rough one... looks... Ok. Could be better mixed use. Do they have air rights of the neighboring lots, could be real awkward with future developments.

Re: Sons of Norway block redevelopment - 1455 Lake St W

types of roofs are like anything else, if they're authentic and done well they're great if they're cheap and inappropriate they look horrible.

On This project they look pretty decent, on any number of 70s modern apartment buildings... not so much.

Will the 12th street residential tower cover the Foshay from this view?
It should be directly in front of the ivy hotel so, I don't think so :)

Re: Arby’s Island

A scary trend I’m seeing in urbanist circles is the wholesale tossing out of the place making aspect of new urbanism, and a push for affordable housing on every available parcel at the lowest possible cost, with no thought to making cities livable and enjoyable. Yes, we desperately need affordable ...

Uniqlo is a Japanese company, they have an average store size of around 16k square feet. Probably a better fit for Victoria's Secret.

I don't think they plan to change the building, that's why they're saying it's a new urban pedestrian friendly concept of something...

Re: Arby’s Island

lol this building isn't your taste, fine. It's a great expansion of uptown's new dense urban felling core area, and it's generally nice looking. There's no reason to overly critique a building because of a possibly false presumption that this is the end all be all best lot for an imagined "icon" If ...

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)

Still just doesn't have the correct proportions to be an elegant building, it looks nicely appointed but is lopsided and has a couple glaring awkward moments, the far too rapid step backs at the top and the almost overhang over a ramp to a garage and a strange curved wall that seems out of place. T...

Re: Arby’s Island

I really love this. The minimalist scandi-modern feel is nice, really changes the blah environment in the area.

The only thing that would make this a 100% for me would be changing out the 3 residential units at the corner of lake and Emerson for another retail spot.

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

So this is maybe having a ymca in it? Massive gym, daycare, play area, or was that known? I'll be happy to see this lot developed, nothing ground breaking but nice stuff, good mixed use, making downtown a little more complete. *I've just realized that with this and the gateway project, there is only...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

I have owned a unit in this building since 1996. This building was NEVER built to accommodate a full service restaurant with 120 seats. This restaurant has been open 4 days and already our residential garage with our storage units are filled with the stink of grease and stri fry odors. Also, do not...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

Sushi Train is filling in the old French Corner Bakery at 1200 Nicollet. It's a buffet style sushi restaurant that has it's sushi on a conveyer belt and runs to all the tables. A major destination! With 1 catch. They were going to be open 11am-12am on weekdays. And 11am-2am on weekends. After 5 nei...
