Re: Southside - News & General Topics

One of the buildings there (the one closest to the freeway) is relatively new and has a modern design, but the old Honeywell campus is a mishmash of awkward spaces. It will be interesting to see what becomes of it - it does seem like it might be more valuable overall as a teardown but perhaps a blow...

Re: Minneapolis 2021 Elections - Mayor, City Council, BET, Park Board

I was a delegate in Ward 11. I wasn't contacted by any of the 3 ward council campaigns other than the generic stuff that I already get, which surprised me a bit. Got lots of caucus contacts for the city wide races in which I ultimately was not chosen to be a delegate. I backed Jeremy but I'm not sup...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

I’ve been doing 2/3 or 3/2 days in office/WFH for years. Like anything else you get used to it. I like working at home and have a good setup here, but still appreciate being able to go in and I do miss it. That said I do think companies are going to decide they need less space. I’m already seeing my...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

I used the 535 to connect to the 46 often when I worked downtown, but the connection times were always hit or miss. I huffed it more than once to my house from the 46th St Station rather than wait 30 mins for another bus. And the 535 routinely ran late out of downtown which didn't help. It was faste...

Re: Maintaining old houses

our 30s era home's windows were replaced roughly 12 years old and we don't have storms with them. I don't miss them, and it's fine without them.

Re: Minneapolis Vehicle Equipment Violations

It's because people think DRLs are sufficient for night and/or they think their car turns on nighttime lights automatically.

IN my case, it's training another driver not to turn off the vehicle from auto setting. :D

Re: Carbucks

they built a Starbucks at 47th St and Cedar Ave in Minneapolis recently with a drive through. it has not had the same issues, although I was worried that it was going to. Minneapolis only allowed them one curb cut on Cedar (they wanted an entrance too) and I think that helps. It always seems busy, b...

It turns urban roads into mini-freeways. See Portland or Park Avenue north of Lake Street.

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

the ped/bike crossing at the 50th/parkway/Portland Y split is particularly problematic and I like turning the parkway into a one way there with a more defined intersection.

Re: Bergan's Redevelopment - Cedar & Minnehaha Parkway

NextDoor is absolutely on fire over this one. So much 🙄
I used to find some value in the area nextdoor (I live in Northrop). These days I find the NIMBYs outshout the supporters of these things and I'd rather spend my energy elsewhere.

Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus

the 46 runs a block from my house. I ride it when i can, but it has a terrible connection window with the 535/orange line, especially in the afternoon during rush hour. I've stood around at that station so many times because of a missed connection or a huge gap in between trips... I started taking t...
