Re: Road Geek Topics

I work north of Washington. Getting the buses to cross Washington is regularly so terrible that bus routes are abandoning service at Marquette and 2nd. The 477 for instance cancelled service north of Washington because getting buses across Washington is so bad. Box blocking by car drivers is normal...

Re: Minneapolis City Planning Commission

Exactly the same reason I don’t bike the 1.7 mile trip to my bus. The only route is dangerous. Part of it is 6(!) lanes and I’ve seen drivers cutting off other drivers as they make last minute decisions. I wouldn’t stand a chance.

Re: The Expo - 215 2nd St SE (285' - 26 Stories)

Thanks guys. I thought we knew that already. Original plan was to have two towers with a low block in between. Didn’t the news come out a while ago that they are delaying the third block? EDIT: Found it up thread from February: Disappointing to see that the tower has been removed along with the affo...

What’s the new height? They have been building the tower already. I bet they are up to 10-12 floors already.

Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT

I was amazed at the local outcry about the original station location. Would have been pretty good in my opinion. #ImAWBLResident ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In related news... I think they did a ride along today. I saw a new artic (c line?) on White Bear Ave near maplewood mall this afternoon. People in it looked lik...

I always thought they should have gone for a KC Power and Light district plan. Have a central courtyard that could be shared by multiple restaurant patios.

Is there a chance this still gets moved to the CP rail spur? Why is that shown on the LPA and labeled as to be studied still?

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

I find it interesting that even with the Hennepin buses rerouted to Nicollet, there doesn't seem to be THAT many busses on the mall. Makes me think that they could have kept them making it a major bus route (like Marq2) and then reduce Hennepin to single lane and left turns only with HUGE sidewalks....

Re: Labeling the Transit System

METRO Riverview listed under Light Rail and color black. I hope they embrace it as Light Rail vs "streetcar" Rush Line should officially get the purple naming already. I agree with the comment about aBRT stop labeling. Yuck! Orange Line downtown stop labeling is gross! Any mock up with the A (north)...

Jump looks like they use the same brand as Lime. Which is too bad because I remember many Lime scooters breaking last year. It’s interesting that they are capping city wide at 2K and downtown at 800, with a required 600 in North. All split evenly between the 4 companies. That sounds like a lot to ma...

The NE corner (Marquette Hotel) is getting some sort of raised patio or planter space. It's the area that used to have their monument sign and a few tables/chairs for the hotel bar.
They did this planter a few months ago. It had Christmas trees in it.

Bafflingly easy getting to and from today, if you were wondering.
Using what method? Pre-game tailgating? Stay at a bar after the game? Many additional factors would be nice to know.

Would they ever use C Line buses on the A line for MN UFC game days? Or maybe normal articulated buses to increase capacity.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

I can’t find the article, but I read that Tim Walz wants to open one bus line per year for the next 10 years due in part to raising the motor vehicle sales tax. A few of the lines include 169 BRT between Shakopee and Hopkins or Minneapolis, Red Line South extension, Orange Line south extension, Hig...

If I'm reading this correctly, the Snelling and University intersection could soon be home to Green, A, AND B lines? It's just a question of if this is the end of the B line or if it continues on to St Paul. This intersection and surrounding areas needs some serious upgrades!

Re: Allianz Field and Snelling-Midway Development

A second park and ride would probably be a good idea too. State Fair grounds make sense, but they’re not very convenient from a lot of places. TCF Bank Stadium would work well as a second location. I’ve also not yet heard of any private options. Surly posted about being a pregame option. They had a...
