Re: West Elm Hotel & Condos - 102-120 1st Street N

I think it's interesting. I think it would be a good fit for the neighborhood.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

How many conversions have happened in the last 5 years? Has the downtown St Paul population doubled yet? What would it take to get the downtown population to a point were it actually feels like there is added demand for additional things like restaurants, coffee shops, groceries, etc that people dow...

Arden Hills passed the master agreement 3-2 tonight.

Pioneer Press reporter live tweeted the whole thing.

Article about the 3 stops in WBL http://www.presspubs.com/white_bear/news/article_683b3952-aba9-11e8-8f32- My observations: -calling only the downtown stop a “Station” and the others “are really just platforms” it’s worded in a way that feels negative. - Downtown Station would include a 280 stall pa...

I know Forest Lake, White Bear Lake and Minnetonka see a lot of fishermen. Depends what you're looking for.

Re: Maplewood, North St Paul, & Oakdale - General Topics

Tonight Maplewood held a kickoff open house event for the North End Vision Plan. https://maplewoodmn.gov/1877/North-End-Vision-Plan I’m surprised by the 9 month project schedule for creating the plan. That seems relatively short. Although, I hope it means that they can get the ball rolling on some p...

Is “industrial ruins” of today what the “mill district” was before it? Keep this stuff around to add character? Similar to reusing silos.

Would it be better if the U faced 1st? It would probably have better sun exposure and breakup the flat wall front of the building.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Metro Transit changes for next Saturday generally reinstate a number of trips suspended last week, but do eliminate other trips as well. Big changes to Route 71. Much of the route is being simplified. Full details here: https://www.metrotransit.org/august-updates I don’t get this. I assumed we were...

The light walk is terrible. The mirrors do not work and reflect like they were advertised. Two blocks of it and it's basically a giant overly expensive pergola.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

There are going to be some changes to the State Fair service this year, mostly due to an operator shortage. This piece from Citylab is a good read about the current state of affairs of the transit operator profession, as an aside: https://www.citylab.com/transportation/2018/06/why-wont-anyone-drive...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

You’d be surprised. I use the p&r at Maplewood Mall and there are some WI plates. One time I parked next to a Tesla X with WI plates and happened to see the owner when we were headed home. I asked “why?” He said “I drive half my commute to get here, it’s nice to ride the bus for the 2nd half.”

If a major automaker bought Tesla, would it be profitable within a year? I think it would be awesome to see a Jeep/Dodge buyout of Tesla. Imagine an electric wrangler. 💰

There are a number of other large corps down in that area. Thompson Reuters is one example. They are hoping that they will stay as close a possible. I think they are also hoping some of the amenities built in (auditorium, etc) will be used by these corps too. I think they are hoping that the stadium...

Anyone live in St Paul ward 4? Have you heard/read the news this past week about David Martinez? What is this guy thinking?!?! He’s unstable. You can sign up to be a "charger". Essentially, they pay you to collect them at night and you plug them in to charge over night. In the morning you set them outside for people to use. I've wondered about the financial aspect of this I see 3 things you should be paid for. 1, you have to drive around...
