Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

Realignment of Lexington and senior housing. We talked about this somewhere already. Will be interesting to see if this is the first of many along W 7th.

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development

There was a recent story that the price tag has risen to $250M. Up from the $150-200 estimate. I remember when it was first proposed as $100 even. Ha!

Ultimately adding a second track at later date comes at significant increase in cost. Portland is still dealing with the decision to single track the Red Line. Single tracking causes significant operational difficulties, if you thought the signals on University were bad, single tracking would degra...

I keep wondering if we currently have the irrigation ban or not? I haven't seen many neighbors turn on their systems yet.

I definitely see NE as one of the most upcoming neighborhoods. It will be a tough couple of years, but then WOW!

Side note: my express bus cuts through NE, from 35w to central/3rd, to Marq2; as do other express buses. I wonder if they will detour or permanently change those routes?

Oh boy. Nextdoor is going crazy about a proposal in WBL. Apparently all 4 corners of the intersection of County Rd E and Bellaire Ave. Short summary: - mixed use - 3 story -1st floor commercial - 99 units over 4 buildings - lots of Nextdoor NIMBY https://twitter.com/mikeamundsen12/status/99116878385...

Tidbit in the article. Phase 1 is only 37.5% leased! (175 vacancies). I wonder how this neighborhood is going to cope with phase 2, and the USBank site, and eventually the condo tower. That's a big increase!

How many of you are on city commissions? I'm interested in getting more involved locally (recently applied for the Rush Line Community Advisory Committee). Now I see that my city has 2 vacancies on the Environmental Advisory Commission. I don't have a background in governance or planning. I'm just i...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Has Metro Transit retired all of the Gillig Phantom buses? Last time I rode one was in 2016 I believe. They were common on Route 589, and I hated it. Leather seats were uncomfortable and you would slide around, and going over bumps they were noisier than an average bus. For the disabled it took awh...

There has been at least some snow removal. The marq2 bus stops aren't behind 3 foot drifts today. Is that the property responsibility? I notice Wells Fargo Center is always very clean (even yesterday).

How soon will the gigantic snow plies be cleared from downtown? The Marq2 buses were limited to one lane due to snow. It took me a full hour to get out of downtown on the bus.

This map would look a lot more complete with the Riverview, Rush, Gold Line and something along 36 or RT 3 (enhanced).

Ok. Thanks for the extra info. Now that I am looking at it on a map, I see rt 54 and E 7th aBRT are the same. I can see how they are connected. Kinda like versions 1.0 and 2.0 of the same project. I didn't realize that.

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

I hope it's not E 7th. To me this area has 3 possible projects. I do not think all three need to happen.

Rt 54 extension - starts June 9(?)
Rush Line BRT
E 7th aBRT

How is that spending our transit dollars wisely?

HOURCAR plans to launch one-way, hub-based car sharing and make its fleet all-electric by 2020.

HOURCAR announces partnership with Xcel
I'm wondering where the hubs would be. Would there be a way to redistribute from a hub when too many cars all end up in the burbs or downtown?
