Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail

Ah, thanks, I had misunderstood the connection. A transfer to SWLRT would definitely be fine as an initial service. I think going north on the CP line is unworkable. Any sense in going west to Chanhassen or Norwood/Young America (N/YA was studied as a commuter corridor)? Maybe too duplicative of SWL...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

On KSTP's report about the crash between a car and the Green Line train they interviewed a 17 year old from Eden Prairie. Near the end of the televised report it was stated that the witness in their interview said he heard other witnesses tell the police that the car had the green light at the inte...

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail

The new junction would send the DMU onto the freight tracks in the Kenilworth corridor. Don't those link up to tracks that go right to Target Field station?

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail

Doesn't SWLRT provide one via the new junction?

Single track, though, which could be problematic.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

No, but that would be awesome. That station is one of the more racially and economically diverse on the line. Lots of immigrants live nearby.

Re: Personal Attacks

Thanks Matt. Just to be clear, I agree locking the thread was the right thing to do. After some reflection today, I guess I don't care if the comments stay or are deleted. I'll leave that to moderator discretion. We, the forum, ought to have a conversation about this, though I don't know where that ...

Personal Attacks

Not sure if I should start a new thread or if there is an existing one under which this would fit. Moderators, feel free to move if you choose. The Minneapolis elections thread is now locked, right after I was the subject of numerous personal attacks by Peter. Normally I would not care but Peter mad...

Re: 38th Street Corridor & 38th St Station Development

On one hand, this building meets the definition of looming. Oh, I'm not complaining about the density at all. I'd welcome more. It's the way the building wraps around that small corner structure, like Sauron watching over the land...If the exterior is meant to visually break up the massing that sho...

She will demand renters have seats reserved in proportion to their share of residents in the neighborhood on the board?
No, I said that our boards should be representative of our neighborhoods.

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

The pogrom post is still accessible. I asked her directly about it. We'll see what she says. Her answer was that neighborhood organizations would be "annihilated" and that's why she said "Pogrom." I directly challenged her on the use of that word and stated that's it's necessary for our neighborhoo...

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

To be clear, I was well aware of Saralyn's combativeness and over-the-top anti-development rhetoric. It was not a comfortable thing for me to talk to her about development. What's shocked me here is the racism.

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

Maybe I'm reading the situation wrong, but are you implying that this didn't happen? That John (or someone) doctored *all* those screenshots, and you'll only accept live links to her posts as proof of what she's said? No, not at all. I'm trying to gather information to pass on because I think a lot...

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

I asked for a link. Information. It is good to have as much documentation as possible. Is it wrong to ask for it? Yes, the pogrom thing is horrible.

Peter, you're just a little too quick to assume bad intent. Like all. the. time.

Hi Everyone. Wedge LIVE here. Looks like I probably need to pop in and say some things. Hi John, Do you have a link to that original Facebook post? I think I found the author but it doesn't appear on his page. Of course it could have been deleted. His whole page is pretty sparse. Saralyn is connect...

Re: RE: Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

My comment was a joke about misunderstanding online comments. I see it hit its mark. It's not appropriate in this case. Now that I've seen more context, Sara has some explaining to do. This is *not* petty stuff. She responded to a racist tweet not only supporting it but using a well-known racist ar...

Ok, I had missed the top of the tweet because the link didn't show it until I clicked.

Yeah, this is bad. Really bad. What's the reacted text? I assume the name of the original tweeter. Who is it?

I apologize to John because it looks like he nailed this one.

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

I can't believe I have to beat it through your thick "social justice minded" skull, Saralyn is blaming black people for slavery. Yes, that's likely. What's the context? It is factual that *some* Africans contributed to the slave trade. Where people go horribly wrong is somehow equating that with th...
