Re: MN Highway 7

I drive that way every day and I have the same thought going over that hill each time.

Re: Arby’s Island

Oh I misread. Maybe Lake could work as three lanes with one reversible and a two lane Lagoon. Or a three lane reversible Lagoon.

Re: Arby’s Island

Maybe Lake could have four lanes with one/two reversible for 3-1 operation. The PM traffic is definitely heavy westbound. Lagoon gets absolutely jammed right around Emerson. I've not really experienced eastbound PM rush so I don't know if this would really work or not. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Ta...

Re: Arby’s Island

Better sidewalks on Lagoon west of Hennepin are desperately needed. East of Hennepin less so but would be nice.

Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)

Sounds like those "federal requirements" are mostly environmental review. Sounds like a terrible plan. I'd be all for reducing the federal highway share to be equal to the federal transit share though. Or better yet, raise the transit share but that won't happen. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Re: Arby’s Island

Yeah, Lagoon ain't closing to traffic any time soon. I hate the one way pair as much as anyone but I don't think Lake alone has the ROW to handle the demand.

Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)

We get there when the issue is forced. Unfortunately there hasn't been enough pain yet. People I think instinctively know our traffic really isn't that bad compared to other places. The key is to have a plan ready when the pain gets here. In the meantime we use the mechanisms available as best we ca...

Re: Rex 26 - 2601 Lyndale Ave S

I'd presume incompetence before I presume malice. The city should put its foot down if it happens again with this developer. It can't become a trend. At the same time, development is tough, and occasionally things don't work out cleanly. An occasional small mulligan seems fair. This isn't a small c...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium

One could argue that San Francisco/Santa Clara are essentially Northern/Midwestern cities, geographically at least (they are at the same lattitude as southern Missouri/Illinois). "Western" is probably a better descriptor though.

Re: Rex 26 - 2601 Lyndale Ave S

That's sort of like saying we don't really care about the rule of law. Yes, I know the law is flexible, and on and on. But at what point do we put our foot down and say that bad behavior by developers won't be tolerated. Plenty of us have complained in the past about developers radically changing an...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium

Yes, I've a feeling that ten years from now the Super Bowl may not be as big of a deal. Certainly within 20. Youth football participation has dropped off and likely will continue to do so. Teams are already struggling mightily at the QB position and are beginning to do so at the other "skill" positi...

I'm with Thatcher. This intersection *really* needs work for pedestrians. I almost never use the official crosswalks because they make no sense, avoiding direct routes in favor of indirect multiple-crossing routes.

They mentioned Hymie's but not Vintage Music Company. Good. Don't want any of those Edisons or Victors damaged.

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

How many of those folks will vote in midterms? I think Trump/Republicans are stronger in MN than people think. If people aren't happy with what's happening, who is in the Governor's office? Not Trump and not Republicans. Hope I'm wrong, but preparing like I'm not. I think I have settled on Walz as m...

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

This sounds like a lot of magical thinking to me. This poll means something and we'd better heed it. As Hillary found out, it's hard for a party to win three terms in a row.

Re: Southwest - General Topics (Linden Hills, Fulton, et al)

Careful with the "disingenuous" label. It's pretty presumptuous to assume someone is intentionally disguising motives. Very likely the author cares about the things he says he cares about. You may disagree but he is spot on that everyone needs to have a voice. I mean, obviously one is not going to s...
