Re: 38th Street Corridor & 38th St Station Development

I hate to break up the 100% male fake outrage going on in the 38th street forum...

I completely understand Sara's concerns. Anyone who has talked to a woman about assault would. Safety is a big design issue and is often ignored.

Snarkiness is *not* appreciated.

There's a whole report about it.

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

Possibly. I haven't read anything directly from either one about this that sheds any light whatsoever.

I don't think Hodges would create many enemies by firing Harteau but she sure would have letting Delmonico be in charge of the 4th precinct.

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

I'd say more the latter as well, because it's coming off like personal political payback rather than sincere concern about issues of structural racism.

I seem to remember much better stuff in Canada but maybe that's just psychological.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I'd say "we should have transit advantages for the 27" but then it just made me think we should build transit in the Greenway trench instead. I think that would be a great idea. The main bike path down there only really seems to take up about half of the width of the trench, if that. Add in a light...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I wonder how bad it would be if some of this traffic shifted to Lake. At least on the bus I've not often noticed huge backups either direction during rush hour. Westbound around 35W at 5pm gets a bit hairy but that's about it.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Coming late to the 26th/28th discussion. I had similar discussion on Facebook where I first saw the plans. Overall, I am cautiously optimistic about the potions through the Wedge. I do worry that the large buffer will make drivers feel like they can go fast, just as they do now. But one lane is a gi...

Yes, some parking is needed, but a big parking ramp with a few park-related retail spots is a huge missed opportunity.

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System

Closing the skyways is not going to generate street-level commercial activity when most of he commercial destinations are on level 2. You can't do a traffic study of the skyways like this because there's 50 years of infrastructure working against it. It won't generate useful data.

I talked to someone at the LHENA annual meeting who said they're building on spec. Very interesting. I saw an updated rendering. More boxy and less unique. :(

If they removed the locks and dams (and did whatever would need to be done to protect the falls), we would have rapids a good way to St. Paul. That would be a wonder.

That damn lock is the dumbest thing the city has ever done.

Probably.

I can think of some others.

I saw that too and thought it was odd. They're going to get essentially zero foot traffic. I wonder what the rent is.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Yeah, if you ignore all the other money the state sends to Minneapolis for specific programs. And, I don't think I've ever seen it, only at a county level. Sure, but if we're restricting ourselves to LGA (which involved sending city sales taxes to the state when the agreement was struck) then clear...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

As far as net contribution goes, isn't it just a matter of looking at state receipts from each city vs. LGA outflows? I think I've seen that chart before.
