Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT

Probably suited for the other thread but wonder how crowded the trail will be since Kenilworth closed years before e scooters and e bikes took off and I think it will still be one of the most popular ways to get from downtown to uptown for awhile (what's the ETA for the bike lanes all the way down ...

Weidner is buying all phases of the Elan Apartments from Greystar. Paying $111 million for 590 units, they're getting a massive bargain. If you are a homeowner it's time to start bracing for big property tax hikes... Maybe. I got my truth in taxation document for 2024. No change in my property valu...

Re: Minneapolis Street Design

I feel the plowing has gotten worse, possibly we’re not ticketing and towing as consistently. Outside of my office I watched the road narrow over the winter as plows had to work around cars that didn’t move for snow emergencies. Maybe declare more snow emergencies and then clear the streets so that...

Wonder how much it would cost to custom order trucks that hold a sub-optimal amount of water? Presumably paywalled article that just came out: Fire trucks can't get through and there's a lot of other issues Bryant Ave, so they're changing the design going forward. https://www.startribune.com/minnea...

Road will be rebuilt in 2025 Projects will break ground no sooner then 2027. Unreal https://www.startribune.com/why-new-development-on-minneapolis-kmart-site-is-at-least-four-years-away/600253811/ But hey, some consultant will be paid at least $500k to conduct lengthy engagement that will tell us a...

They are putting the concrete barriers and fencing back up around the precinct again. Really sad to see, anyone know why?
I heard that they were going to install something permanent that was supposed to look nicer. But apparently it's just the same as before?

Re: Nicollet-Lake - greater Kmart area

I emphasized the need for housing and for the new space to make the area feel more like a neighborhood rather than a commercial corridor. Density with quality greenspace. Greenspace with high quality access to the greenway would be really nice. My hope is that the city breaks up the site into multi...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction (Douglas to Lake St)

Override of Frey's veto fails on same lines as original City Council vote. It now gets referred back to committee. I think they at least need to push for 6am - 8pm bus lanes now instead. That would be the best compromise I could imagine and would allow for a different council and mayor to easily ma...

The project quoted above was approved, but then neighbors sued and won. The approvals were revoked and the land was sold. The new developer is now coming to the CPC with two different projects on two of the three lots that made up the original proposal (the corner lot, a shabby professional buildin...

Tiny infill project being proposed at 3400 Nicollet (the tiny lot next to the ramen building). Details from a Lyndale neighborhood group email that was sent this morning: "The proposed development is a two story, mixed used building at 3400 Nicollet Avenue, on the SW corner of 34th Street and N...

As a longtime constituent, it's fairly common knowledge among her constituents that she's out of touch with her constituents. She knows it too. She may be out of touch with the constituents that you're friends with and talk with, but that's a self-selecting group. There's literally no good polling ...

They had stripped by this morning. Looks like we have a new parking lot on lake st which I assumed the city wouldnt have allowed for without approval
And even if they got approval, the code requires screening and landscaping. Someone should probably report it to the city.

This is where the City's decision to not entirely close Girard between Lake and Lagoon is coming back to haunt. If they had turned that into a car-free zone, I think that would have boxed this developer in and the City would never entertain this type of regression. But I suspect staff will allow the...

ANY hope of getting more light rail politically just went out the window.
Agreed. We are already seeing comments from GOP state reps and gubernatorial candidates about this. They are going to use this as the reason the state can't fund any other train lines.

If the residents don't support it and their CM doesn't. Then why should they be forced to have it? Are businesses paying assessments on this and not want it? These folks live, do business in the area and pay taxes...they should have a say just as much as those who want complete streets and etc. (Or...
