I had a coworker get hit walking at the same intersection to the bus back in May. The city really needs to prioritize peds + bikes over fast turning cars at that intersection!

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

Vehicles have been particularly bad lately at blocking the box downtown going E/W with Hennepin reconstruction occurring. Cars don't seem to care if they endanger 10 pedestrians or make 30 people on a bus wait for them. The city doesn't seem to care about the problem either, saying the traffic light...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

Demo of the bus shelter started this morning. They are also out with chainsaws this morning cutting down some of the large trees that were installed as part of the Nicollet remodel. Sad to see these go already. If the city was smart they would have moved these trees to the locations of others that d...

Per Monday's MetCouncil meeting the latest METRO map shows purple could go to either Rush or Riverview, so there is still hope it would go to Riverview!

Re: Northern Lights Express

Coon Rapids - Foley Station should be designed to accommodate waiting/transferring from NLX to Northstar to Empire Builder. It would be on-line for all of these. This could really be a useful hub to start a state-wide rail network!

Re: Labeling the Transit System

On tonight's Transportation Committee agenda they will hopefully be answering this question once and for all. See the map below. Essentially aBRT will be branded as part of the METRO family, ie. METRO A Line, METRO B Line, etc. and all other forms of rapid transit will be METRO Color. So LRT, BRT, S...

The Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks in Bethlehem, PA should really be the precedent for this project! Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Pretty good info about the agreement here. Council to pay $18.5M to remove their existing siding track over 5 years. Then the council will own the corridors and be responsible for maintenance and liabilities, however TCWR will pay council fees for maintenance (undisclosed amount). In terms of liabil...
