Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar

Train length is another issue... Will these stations only be built for 1-LRV trains? Hiawatha was built with some 2-LRV platforms but with a pathway to extend those platforms (happened within a few years). I recall that they are looking at using the smaller 80-foot long Siemens LRV and I would imag...

Re: Road Geek Topics

White Bear Lake is discussing the effect of a study reducing residential speed limits from 30 mph to 25mph for the past year at their council meeting tomorrow. Spoiler alert, speed stayed the same or actually increased! The report also shares analysis from other cities (unnamed) where they have seen...

That way, the elementary kids at Maxfield Elementary can (continue to) suffer from extreme air pollution while playing on a fun N-shaped bridge!
No. You can cap the entire area and landscape pathways for the letters.

Build them in a way that the lids themselves, or features thereof, spell out RONDO (or whatever a given neighborhood wants) in map view and call it good!
Such a fun idea @MinneapBliss I think the idea would work really well!

Re: Interstate 94

I still think that it's profoundly silly that we're even discussing removing grade separation here. If you can't even get half of the people on this forum to agree that it's a good idea, just imagine how this will play in broader constituencies. I agree MNdible! I think the best solution will be to...

On-ramp gate arms have also been installed from University Ave to 35W bridge... it seems like all the locations where they've had previous protestor problems.

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)

I like the new design! I do too, but the roof should be open to above and not glass - they've replaced the glass ceilings before due to rocks and bullets. The same logic should apply to the hand rails shown, glass is a big mistake. Metal only. Glass will be shattered instantly at this station. It's...

Re: Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park

I haven't been in there since the remodeling wrapped, but the building footprint didn't change, so the dining room is still there, right? They're just not using it? (Which they have been doing since Covid hit, I'm pretty certain.) No, when you walk into the lobby there are two ordering kiosks, a mo...

Re: Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park

Denying a building permit for something that is allowed by zoning is a good way for the city to be sued.
It just seems like a great loophole being used by these restaurants to completely circumvent the goals of the City.

Re: Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park

Is there some sort of city ordinance or zoning district thing here that requires in-person dining that I'm not aware of? If the goal of the City is to discourage drive thru's, you would think that while reviewing the building permit they would be required to maintain their dining room access versus...

Re: Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park

The remodeled McDonald's at Nicollet & 24th eliminated the dining room (not sure how the City allowed that) so I can't really blame this City employee for using the drive thru, but there is some funny irony seeing a City of Minneapolis vehicle using a drive thru... https://i.imgur.com/MRspjZb.jpg

The Standard at Dinkytown, another 17 story project. The parking entrance and loading entrance along the 15th avenue bikeway is pretty problematic still. It's crazy the height and density we are starting to see along 15th Avenue. https://lims.minneapolismn.gov/download/Agenda/3366/14-52814thAveSE.pd...

Re: 800 Washington Av S (Guthrie ramp liner) - AECOM / City of Lakes Community Land Trust

It's going to be sad when the great views from the Guthrie's amber box on the 9th floor get blocked looking south by this thing - definitely not going to win any awards for aesthetics, but I guess it's good for progress. Still going to be a bummer though.
