Re: Seven Corners Gateway Site / Radisson Red

Design drawings from the April 10th HRA Meeting indicate it'll be a Courtyard by Marriott.

Some other very small agencies in Golden Rule (Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services, Architecture Board). Part of the Judicial branch is in Landmark Towers. Minnesota Housing Finance just relocated into the Treasure Island Center. I’d venture to guess that most state employees, like me, would prefer to s...

Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Wow, pretty surprising the Skyscape one is closing, it's consistently busy whenever I go there. This will be a big negative for the neighborhood. Although maybe not surprising considering the sign in the dairy section today: https://i.imgur.com/rgWVhAU.jpg?1 Oof, clearly an asset to the neighborhoo...

Re: Eagan, Apple Valley, Burnsville - General Topics

Tower crane went up in the last couple weeks at the approximate site of the future high-rise hotel at the Viking Lakes project in Eagan. I could make out a Kraus-Anderson trailer. Eagan permits don't seem to indicate a tower being constructed yet (wasn't even sure it was approved). Anyone know anyth...

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

Has anyone heard if something is happening at 1177 West 7th Street? It's been a vacant lot for several years (Street View showed a house in 2007, but it was gone by the next pass in 2011). I saw a skid loader just about done tearing up the grass yesterday. This is between Tavial Grill and the strip...

The SpringHill Suites at 7th & Jackson is under construction. There are completed caissons that weren’t there on Thursday.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

While I haven't seen any plans go through city commissions, nor a specific building permit, the Degree of Honor Building at 325 Cedar Street seems to have started a rumored conversion to residential. As far as I can tell, the remaining office tenants are gone, the skyway level offices have been gutt...

On August 14th, the Capitol River Council included an informational item about another expansion to Regions Hospital, this time for a birth center. Phase 1 - 4 floors, Phase 2 - an additional 7 floor on top. https://www.capitolrivercouncil.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Regions_Hospital_Birth_Center...

Potential Snow Kreilich rehab/expansion of mid-century building on Raymond into 11 condos. Typical NIMBY comments.

Agree that this building fits very well. In my opinion, this one avoids most of the pitfalls of faux-historicism and looks like the right kind of modern for the context.

Maybe this is a weird thought but I feel like as far as parking garages go, the one being torn down is one of the most attractive we have downtown.
Not weird, I agree.

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)

StarTribune indicates that ESG didn’t design this iteration. It’s Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart out of Atlanta. I think it’s a downgrade for sure.

Re: University of Minnesota - General Topics & Development Map

It would be nice if there was a concerted effort to give the School of Public Health its own home. I went through those programs 15-20 years ago and there was talk of a new building back then that never materialized. To this day the school is split between East Bank and West Bank, and those East Ban...
