Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)
All this sexy bathroom talk makes me wonder which way their "curved shower rod" curves.

I wonder if he's footing the bill every time somebody swipes one of the metal letters fronting the park.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
Maybe it's been mentioned already, but does anyone know exactly how the proposed park will work regarding ownership? i.e., will Ryan turn over the property to the city Park Board? Or will it remain a "private" park? I shudder at the latter. I don't know if it was discussion here or an art...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
I think a wine shop would do rather well here. I think there's a wine shop on Washington by Edina Realty, and then the Bottle House in the commercial part of the Churchill, but that's about it for that area. I'd love to walk around the store with a pinot noir, but then I'd feel gauche shopping for c...

Re: Nicollet Mall
"why would it cost significantly more..." Well, first we'd have to study it for 5-10 years, hold 100 meetings, and pay a consulting firm to write a 1000 page environmental impact statement. Ain't that the truth! And since it sounds like the city council voted to move forward with the Valu...

I wonder if the cloud will be able to identify snark on Twitter. I for one say things that sound like they have a negative edge when my mood is quite rosy, actually.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
Here's my question: The North Loop is increasingly becoming a family friendly urban neighborhood, but unfortunately, that living option just not financially possible for the overwhelming majority. When will the market meet the demand for housing in the core so that it becomes a feasible choice for ...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
I see this building from my place, and I'm not particularly loving it, not from my angle I guess. However, I was walking up Hennepin yesterday and kind of liked how the two towers look from that direction, and place looks massive. I appreciate the attempts of different materials and having some of t...

Shut up and let us get drunk on some featureless grassy space You guys should maybe learn something about urban development before commenting on an urban development forum. Front yards have long been emblematic of suburban development. Please see Kenneth Jackson, Ebenezer Howard, Frederic Law Olmst...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
Agreed. I guess we could call it The People's Pasture.Wait, so now the mayor is insane for referring to this planned park as a "front yard" for the stadium? Come on. This thread just gets more and more riduculous. It is a figure of speech.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
thus the RiverFirst project, my opinion, is more essential to fast track, I agree, and maybe it is moving forward, but it seems rather stagnant. And, there are even fewer January Molasses entities involved in RIverFirst than the clusterfook that is this Star Tribune development. I foresee Ryan doin...

Re: Velo Apartments - (103 Second Street North)
Gateway District: Hennepin to 3rd Ave, the river to 4th Street. Officially part of Downtown West Neighborhood, which also has its western boundary along Hennepin. The Velo will be in the North Loop Neighborhood, but right across the street from the 222, which was a block (I think the westernmost ful...

I'm fine with the idea of a practice facility, but the exterior still needs to be dramatically re-skinned , and the street level should include retail that interacts with the public as you say. My guess is the practice facility won't use up all the vacant space, and there will be room for other nic...

The one thing that hasn't aged well are those resin pyramids that comprise the "crystal" top of Crystal Court. They have an ongoing difficult time with those leaking and getting milky, even though they are two-ply. I used to work on 8th floor where some of the pyramids stair-stepped right ...

Re: Minneapolis Armory
I personally wouldn't be as motivated to go to the Mill City farmers market if it was in the armory. It's current location is half the appeal. Also, as it is its not *that* big. Agreed. It's fun if only to grab a bison burger and hang out on the Guthrie steps. As for the Armory, maybe it's Da Range...

Re: Vikings Stadium
I think it blocks the view of Green Bay, from my angular calculations.Right. I wonder how much shade the solid roof will actually supply. Maybe enough to shade the upper deck mid-day in June? Doesn't seem like that would be the primary reason for it.

Re: Vikings Stadium
The way the sun angles, especially during football season, the northern bowl seats under the opaque portion of the roof would probably get the most sun, from the sidelines up to the nosebleeds.
