Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

That's really exciting. Bad for St Anthony, I guess, but I love that place and I'll go there even more now. Though I'll have to change my family's toys-and-pulla tradition to scones and cream at Caffe Latte, I guess. Life is rough sometimes.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium

Honestly, I'm having a little bit of trouble focusing on the "content" of that piece. Kolls and his editors (assuming there are any) seem to be taking grammar lessons from Sean Penn.

Also, am I the only one who's not entirely sure how Kolls even has a job?

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion

Getting really sick of seeing media repeat the "doxxing" language while very clearly not knowing what it means.

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion

I'm looking for the outrage and articles about the torrent of racist, sexist, threatening abuse Cano has been receiving on Twitter and Facebook. In vain, as it turns out, because while plenty of people are suuuper worried that she didn't redact publicly available information, they don't seem to be n...

You guys need to show more respect to Prince Tevlin, Heir Apparent to the Throne of Soucheray.

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

The city council is getting interesting tonight (#blongnbetsyfortress). Nekima Levy-Pounds strongly implied that she's going to run against Yang. It sounds as though the crowd is overwhelmingly displeased with the last minute budget amendments to beef up the 4th precinct.

Re: "A Line" Snelling Avenue Arterial Bus

Do we have anything more specific than "sometime in 2016" as a start date yet? I don't think so, but maybe I missed it? Just got an email saying that they're announcing the opening date next year. Also, there's only one stop (Snelling & St. Clair) that's under heavy construction and i...

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

Could be. Hodges' issue won't be the general populace, though. It's the base that got her there last time, that does the calling and knocking and rallying. How many of them will be as enthused about campaigning for her re-election?

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

Is it safe to assume that Yang, Johnson, and MPD arranged last night's theatrics to coincide with this morning's eviction?

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

Hodges and Ellison pretend to be progressives. Meanwhile, Yang and Johnson have removed their skinmasks to reveal their glittering scales and multifaceted occular stalks.

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

I occasionally hear people say that the great thing about social media is that it brings the normally quiet racists out into the light. I think the 4th precinct situation is doing something similar with Minneapolis politics, highlighting which "progressives" are really progressives (Cano, ...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium

Lets not forget the businesses with University Ave frontage: McDonalds, Perkins, and the old bank building on the corner which was going to be a Walgreens but the word is now that that plan might be dead.
It's very, very dead.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium

The entire shopping center site is owned by RK Midway, and it will all be replaced in stages, not refurbished. The exact plans are still in the works, but nobody is talking about saving any of those structures except, perhaps, the old bank building on the corner of Snelling and University.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium

Which is more likely, a build-out of that plan or an Ayd Mill fix? And I'm not being sarcastic, I'm genuinely curious because if that's the case it seems like the city and state will be trying to figure out which purely hypothetical project will inconvenience the other the day after hell freezes over.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium

The last thing I heard was that the current (or most recently) preferred alignment would dump Ayd Mill out at Pascal/94, with an at-grade crossing of Marshall. There was no discussion of the railroad, but I would not be surprised to hear at-grade there as well (Wedgeguy - Amtrak runs twice per day, ...

Re: 2015 St. Paul Municipal Elections

Gotta admit, I'm very relieved. I was starting to worry about Stark and Brendmoen. Speaking of which, Brendmoen just thanked her supporters saying "Today, I am popping over to Dockside for breakfast , noon at North End Business Association, then on to City Council meeting and public hearings. I...

Re: 2015 St. Paul Municipal Elections

He has a point. A, singular. And that is that we should not subsidize stadia. The rest of his platform, such as it is, is not about challenging priorities. It's about complaining that people don't feel like they're being listened to so we should listen to the loudest ones now and ditch 4 years of wo...
