Re: Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park

Speaking of the Nicollet Burger King, I want to put something cool in the parking lot for open streets this year. Any thoughts? I'm considering getting the wrestling they had on Lyndale.

Also, does anyone know what's up with this? Are developers still sniffing around or is BK gonna do something?

Duplex next to my garden is going to become a 4plex. The property is in BAD shape. Check out the photobomb from Fluffy the Dragon on pg. 27

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

Walz has spent a million dollars only to be just as popular as when he entered the race. Murphy has only gone up and up since the caucus. Outstate folks on social media publicly say Erin Murphy is the best thing since sliced bread. I'm not seeing anything close to that amount of love for Walz. At th...

Convention was this past Saturday. Mark Haase endorsed for County Attorney on the first ballot. Incumbent Mike Freeman is still running (he won in 2006 against another DFL endorsed candidate). Haase understands the lever Attorney plays in criminal justice reform, and has spent most of his career doi...

Oops wrong thread!

The charter school is half a mile north, above Lowry. They may just be taking the silos down.

That BK is way to profitable for them to close. Since corporate owns it, we might even see some remodeling to bring it out of the early aughts.

Re: Northside - General Topics

Anyone know what's happening at 23rd Ave NE and California Street? There are grain mills and a vacant lot. Looks they're assembling a crane right now! I work across the street and have seen them remove the community garden that was there, run some electrical, and do core sampling over the last coupl...

Also: last year's hurricane season has driven up costs. Lots of laborers have gone down to rebuild Houston, and supplies like drywall have gone up significantly.

The first floor of this is in place. Goes right up to the sidewalk, which looks very good. The back walls (facing East and South) are precast slabs with the word "Nordeast" repeatedly stamped into them. It looks.... not good, but willing to give it benefit of the doubt for now.

Re: What wrong with our parks?

I campaigned on putting a restaurant in Loring Park, as more "eyes on the grass" would address some safety issues that park users have. The current building isn't practically set up to operate as a restaurant. It would require a heavy remodel (adding a kitchen, etc.) or a new building. Neither of th...

Re: US Congress and MN House Elections 2018

I heard this year is going to be $100 million across all state races. MN-8 is still a top R pickup (probably MN-1 too), plus we are the #1 governor pickup for Republicans. I'm guessing much of that $100M is going to be burned on shite that's scientifically proven to be a complete waste (TV ads).

There is an operating indoor pool at Olson Middle School up near the Brooklyn Center border. Adjoining Creekview Park has possibly the last 2-story slide in Minneapolis and an unimaginably awful skatepark. Franklin Middle School just across Plymouth has a disused pool. I campaigned on re-opening it ...

Is the former Fuji Ya building still standing? What a terrific location that is. Kind of! They took down a story and are gutting the building to expose ruins of the old mill underneath. There will be a restaurant operated by Sean Sherman aka The Sioux Chef. All in all sounds pretty great: https://w...

Hmmm... looks like the building owner opted not to renew the lease with VS after 10 years, rather than VS closing by choice. They must think they can land an even bigger fish. My guess is that they already had a few (several?) brokers contact them with much more appealing offers than whatever VS si...

Schafer Richardson can't. They tried with Montage/Nye's and folded pretty quickly.

Keep making noise... squeaky wheel, etc. It's very important the city gets this right, and it can set the tone for the mayor's "affordable housing or bust" agenda. Tell your friends and neighbors to stay in contact with the council member, etc.
