I could go either way on this... except for the mansard roofs. Whatsup with that?

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

Couple more Park Board forums and events coming up. I'm planning to be at all of these. A few other at-large candidates probably will attend too. Tuesday 10/3: League of Women Voter's Civic Buzz - Equity in Mpls Parks 5:30-7:30, Black Forest Inn https://lwvmpls.org/wp-content/uploads/Oct-Parks-2017-...

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

The MPRB Planning Committee unanimously voted to stop the pumping. It will go to the full board in a few weeks but it looks like it's a done deal. The director of golf said 9 hole courses don't make money because people want to pay for a full 18-hole course. I wonder if there's a way to at least kee...

Re: Is it called Richfield Road, or E Calhoun Parkway?

Is the roadway tinted red? Then it's an official MPRB Parkway/Boulevard. Apparently that was Horace Cleveland's idea to set them apart from the city's roads. Just learned that this year and now I can't unsee it.

Working with City of Lakes land trust for 20% of units to be an "approachable" cost is a win. Still pretty high approachable cost at ~ $185 per square foot, though the "market" cost units are $300+ PSF. Is that where the DT condo market is right now?

Speaking of eminent domain, isn't the 35W access project taking part of SE corner of the property to add new turn lanes and such?

Re: South Nicollet (Lyndale & Kingfield & Tangletown & Windom)

Why would they need a parking variance? Weren't parking requirements eliminated near high frequency transit? The developer brought that up and said they could move forward without one. I couldn't tell whether the City was encouraging them to seek the variance, or if the developer decided on its own...

Re: 700 Central Avenue Northeast Apartments

Wow that skyline shots really shows how terrible the roads are in that neighborhood. Red Stag is a pretty awful place to eat outside because of the roads over here. Semis come screaming down First Ave just feet from your table, rattling everything, making it smelly and impossible to hold a conversa...

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

Yeah, because the Park Department should be spending more money on its headquarters. Yes. The HQ would go in a building that also has housing. The point is the parcel is on the train line. They would make money on the deal, and use the developer fee to be able to pay for the new boat launch in addi...

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

https://www.minneapolisparks.org/park_care__improvements/park_projects/current_projects/calhoun-harriet_master_plan__improvements/ The Park Board apparently owns the surface parking near the Calhoun Professional Building, and the plan calls for them to eventually develop the land. I testified that t...

Park Board planning committee approved the Calhoun/Harriet master plan, which includes fully restoring the name Bde Maka Ska and directs the park board to work with the county and state DNR to scrub the Calhoun name wherever possible.

Many like to paint opposition to a charter amendment setting a higher minimum wage as opposition to the actual minimum wage increase. It's kind of crazy to me, considering the the State Supreme Court ruled that this would not have been a legal charter amendment, that advocates are still parroting t...

A lot of said "bums" were seasonal loggers and such who hung around and got drunk all winter until work picked up again. Source: video someone posted here once. My guess is they congregated at the gateway because that's where the train station and SRO's were.

Having recently been endorsed by Our Revolution: 20 men, 1 nonbinary dude (me), and 5 women (3 of whom are incumbents) are running for 9 seats. Only one woman (Liz Welinski) applied for the endorsement. She didn't get it. I personally tried to recruit 2 women to run in districts this year but they d...

There is no indication on the ballot which candidate was endorsed by the DFL. Each candidate gets to select the three words next to their name - most people end up writing Democratic Farmer Labor. Correct. But the party itself has the ability to raise and spend more money on campaigns than any indi...

There are 3 at-large Park Board seats, and the two longest serving commissioners in those seats (Young and Irwin) are retiring. The third, who is running again, told me there's too much affordable housing in Minneapolis... You can have a disproportionate influence on making sure we have a park board...

It doesn't seem unreasonable for Surdyk's to want to have recourse in case something falls off the crane and through their roof, and to know what that is before the crane is built. They're separate parcels under separate ownership.
