Re: Van White Memorial Bridge

Don't forget this isn't the finished project. Like they still have a lot of planning to do, and they may change the parking ramps to something else, how do we contact that development team. They said "Does this fulfill your expectations?" or something along those lines. Next, it won't be completely ...

Wow I really like this. Like that is a good dorm to live in haha. I wonder how many of the second-third year students live around campus/Minneapolis.

Also they did very well in designing the courtyard/alley where the bar sits. Very nice sculptures and well designed for cars and pedestrians.

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

Second part, thank you that makes sense. Now why is it the value of the property increases or decreases, like why is it based on that? Like its gonna be if the property increased in value the tax stays the same an then the lower valued properties get lower tax, or is it flipped?

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

^I thought it was pretty cool that my lifelong suburbanite, republican dad immediately made the connection between development and reducing property taxes, as we looked down Washington at the many construction projects. My question is when are the property taxes going to drop. Also sorry for my ign...

Re: Downtown Mpls needs a REAL park!

I don't think block E should be a public plaza. There isn't enough entertainment there yet. Like it needs to be continued to be built along there, but something needs to replace it. Also It would be a very unsafe public plaza :p

Re: Mozaic

Even though phase one didn't turn out like it was drawn up, I still like the look. Like even though it is very square, what they did with the parking lot, and the glass part that juts out on the right all looks very nice. And its bigger than most other developments. So even even if phase 2 is "half"...

Re: Downtown Mpls needs a REAL park!

Well downtown does have a real city park, Loring Park is a real city park serving a large number of residents that live in that area. But still I completely agree, they need another one serving workers and the people in newly built apartments by the library.

Re: Lost Project

At40 the problem with Minneapolis was that it was built and designed in an era when nobody lived in Minnepolis. What I mean, many people moved out to the suburbs, but worked downtown. There came the existence of massive buildings with surface parking lots and extra wide, less city feel type streets....

Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)

Yes but a multi location concept. Or in this case, different types of restaurants for with this company, which I like. Like they have more money than a mom and pop, but its not an applebees. Its the perfect inbetween.

Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)

Also, I don't think we have the density to do that. Like when you have a tiny restaurant that you have to have a lot of people walking by, since they are hard to notice when driving by. So in new york, were 70-80% of the people living there use transit and walk, you see them. A good example of a min...

You got it right on. Small wasn't by size, more like a small company or group, not a chain. Size wise, that is big, concept wise it is not.

I like the restaurant going in there, it shows that not all new developments always fill up with Subway's and applebee's. Some smaller, cooler restaurants can be in a new building.

Re: Solhavn - (815 2nd Street North)

Jet my shoebox reference was wrong by my part. Like the boxy shape is alright because it matches the shape with warehouses and industrial converted apartments. The facade was wrongly interwoven into that, but again I do like the design. And I don't know why I don't like the glass there, like I perso...

My grandmother lives across the street in the Nicollet towers across the street. It has perfect views from over top, for now, of the building. I will take some pictures and upload them as soon as I visit her.

Re: Solhavn - (815 2nd Street North)

Even though the shoebox idea was addressed, I would like to say a shoebox type development would work the best in the north loop. A skyscraper cannot be built there, at least not yet. All glass looks awkward, like the blueish building by the highway (don't know the name). Brick buildings are not bui...
