I'd love to have a walkable grocery option in the neighborhood. I hope that empty lot doesn't stay empty for too long.

Re: Downtown Restaurant News

That place has been open for quite a while. Definitely tough to spot, no signs. Went there with a friend before a game, 6ish, can't remember what day it was and we were the only ones in there the whole time. Had a pizza which was a $4 happy hour special and it was fabulous.

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)

The city council looks ridiculous. They want to put this on the ballot in November? Before their 250k study comes out in February? This seems well thought out. Are Xcel and Centerpoint doing a poor job? Are they charging outrageous prices? This would cost the city a huge sum of money just to take it...

Yeah, no start on the retail building yet. Last time I went by Oaks Station Place they hadn't filled their retail spots so that has me a bit worried about when this one might get started.

The big draw is having a light rail station across the street. Easy access to everything.

Re: Longfellow Station - (3801 Hiawatha Avenue)

I have driven by this project a number of times recently. I'm not sure this one will lease up quickly. Aside from 38th St. station, it doesn't have that much going for it from a location standpoint. The plot is bordered by Hiawatha Ave, train tracks, a power substation (I think) and whatever retail...

Re: Target Center Renovation

It makes you wonder if the Timberwolves are either positioning themselves to move to St. Paul, or at the very least using that possibility as leverage for their share of the tab here. After all, with Xcel available it's not like the Timberwolves <ital>have</ital> to pony up for Target Center renova...
