Re: Abbott Hospital Renovation

Permits pulled in the last couple weeks: http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/PIApp/InspectionPermitsRpt.aspx?Year=2012&Action=Show&PIN=140722 And I'm pretty sure I saw cranes outside this morning. I can't be completely sure though, as I was on the freeway. Someone please move this topic out of the Upto...

Re: Union Restaurant - (733 Hennepin Avenue)

Um, it appears that it actually is the finished sculpture. http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2012/11/13/shea-sculpture-zoran-mojsilov.html Holy crap that entry is postmodern. Anyway, it's good to see you all thought the thing looked like balls as well. I thought I was going to make an idio...

Re: Union Restaurant - (733 Hennepin Avenue)

Uhhh... I hope that thing's not finished. Because it kind of looks like a cascade of testicles landing on a piece of the Metropolitan.

Given its fate that's appropriate, I guess.

Is this the same sculptor that did the pieces in front of Icehouse?

No idea, but I know that the backup spread up EB 94, off of the entrance ramps, and back up Olson Mem. into Golden Valley. Ridiculous morning. Can't wait for the rail network to develop more.

I saw this the other day before the sign went up and had no idea what was going on. I love that we can barely keep tabs on all of the new projects! (Also, thanks for the pictures of everything!)

Re: New West Bank Rec Center

Thanks for sharing! Even though these are just preliminary massings, we can see that the U intends to position this building right up against Riverside, which is a relief. Riverside's diagonal positioning could give it some great irregular urban architecture, but a lot of that potential is wasted on...

I see that they have started work on the bar/restraunt that will replace the Independent on the corner of the second floor of Calhoun Square. There is a coming soon sign for Origami on the Ground floor of the Mosaic too. Th Calhoun Square tenant is going to be Republic's second location. I'm real e...

It's behind the paywall, but F&C has this (which just confirms what we know.) http://finance-commerce.com/2012/11/just-sold-after-years-of-plans-greco-starts-apartments/ Really great to see every project I'm excited about get off the ground, unlike last time we had a building boom. Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)

I hate to contribute to off topic banter, but Minneapolis has added more population in the last year than it lost throughout the last ten. On top of that, there was a great article in the Strib the other day about the many problems exurbs are starting to face now that they're becoming less desirable...

On that note, I drove by tonight and they've got between a quarter and a third of the piles in the ground already. It looks like this thing is going to be moving pretty fast.
