Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

There needs to be a "Midtown Corridor by 2018" movement (I wish)

Re: 4Marq - (313' - 30 Stories)

Autorized sounds like a pejorative term used to describe the transformation of an historic urban place with narrow roads into a car-centric suburban development with wide roads

Re: The Graduate - (1300 block of 4th Ave SE)

I hope it does at least to get 12 floors high because the Chateau would look less towering over Dinkytown with the mixture of 6-12 story buildings within a couple block radius.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

I would want commuter line service to TFS so the commuter rail station is actually used more lol. About the Green/Blue Line, I wish we could just make it elevated the Chicago L if not underground at least in DT Mpls despite the skyways being in the way. One issue other than money is, if they were co...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Putting trains to 7.5 or even 5 minute frequencies would definitely cause problems given the train is already having with signaling, but if the ridership does actually get that high they will probably have no choice but to add more service. The rail portion in Downtown Minneapolis would probably hav...

Re: The Graduate - (1300 block of 4th Ave SE)

Realistically though, will it probably be dropped down to something like 12 floors? It seems that many of the taller proposals in the city that are over 12 floors high, later turn out to be a few floors shorter than originally planned due to things like overall construction costs, controversy over h...

Re: The Bridges - (950 University Avenue SE)

I've been traveling on 35W to the West Bank the past couple of days, and while The Bridges isn't too pretty - it's still better than other hulking buildings like Stadium View Apartments. I think they could have made it look less massive if they had split it into two towers, but overall it's more pla...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

This is great news. To add to Nate's comment, I bet that there will be around at least 35-37,000 daily riders once school starts up in the fall. and possibly even more during the colder months. Honestly I think the 42k/day was a bit low for a 2030 projection, I think it could make it to 50k/day by 2...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Same here, someone I know posted a Facebook status a few days ago about how they accidentally took a Blue Line train when they meant to get on the Green.

They at least know the difference now.

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

The problem though is how far would we really want to put the LRT? I doubt that LRT will go ever down 35W given they already spent hundreds of millions in reconstruction from Burnsville to Downtown within the past few years and seem pretty fond of their BRT planning. They probably don't want to tear...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

All I'm just saying that the possible crime can add to the controversy if even it's only vaguely related to the light rail - I'm not against 24-hour service (and I do know that the 16 ran all night - but the Green Line will probably bring more nighttime ridership, especially students). I just had a ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

My wife and a friend are both saying that conditions on the train are quickly deteriorating. Maybe we need to really step up patrols on the Green Line, based on the broken window theory of crime. I'd hate for this line to scare off all the choice riders because the cars are filthy and the other rid...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

To be honest, I kind of liked the old black paint style more on the old Bombardier cars, but their yellowish interiors are ugly-looking imho. I'm glad the new Siemens trains avoid using that same color in the interior.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

What seemed to be what bogged down the travel time (I rode from Target Field to SPUD, and then back to TF around noon) was definitely not having signal priority along University. The ride was nice otherwise though.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

The last time I've been checked was a few years ago (though I don't ride that often) around 11 PM, while the train waited to depart Warehouse District (this was before Target Field station opened). I was sitting in the back of the car, and there were 5 or 6 black kids between me and the door. The o...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

At one point, there were two trains parked at Union Depot with kind of odd destinations on their message boards -- one was cycling "Downtown" / "Minneapolis", and the other was "Downtown Eas" (missing the "t"). I will say that there are some services out there where the destination board message ch...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

I'll be coming from Little Canada with my cousin, to celebrate more trains.

Just because it doesn't directly serve me, does not make it useless. I wish some people could get that through their heads. If the Blue Line can get a 37% farebox recovery ratio, I bet this could get about 40-45% at least.

Re: "A Line" Snelling Avenue Arterial BRT

I used to take the 87 from Rosedale to the U's Saint Paul Campus, and it would sometimes take up over 10 minutes just to get out of the Rosedale area (from Rosedale to past 36 on Fairview) due to how the transit station is set up. Whenever I was running late, I would just park across the street in C...

Does this just mean a change in management? Or will this lead to changes in the design?
