Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

If there's a nice day, then the hotspots are places like the Chain of Lakes or Minnehaha Falls, not downtown.

Re: Former West Publishing / County Jail development site

So, I realize this plan would involve a stronger connection to the river... but this sure seems like another Kellogg Mall Park. The only thing that I've ever seen activate Kellogg Mall Park is the Winter Carnival... when Rice Park was torn up for work... It's easy to throw a bunch of people onto a r...

They mention it once, as a previous plan, and then no subsequent mention.

Re: Federal Reserve Riverfront Parking Ramp

It's kind of wild that people who don't understand basic parking economics are in charge of managing economic growth and inflation for our entire economy.

Re: Ceresota Building Apartments (155 5th Ave S)

Did this project ever finish? Every time I walk by that blank wall on 2nd St, I think they should be allowed to put some windows into the lower part of that wall below the Ceresota sign and maybe an awning facing the sidewalk. Activate this wall: https://goo.gl/maps/yzUpaQjQWEtvAnRt9 IMO this could ...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

This segment would be better with 2-3 lanes rather than 4-5 lanes. I wonder if there would have been space to fit in a Richfield-style roundabout at 46th Ave (since they're closing off the fifth leg of the intersection) and at Minnehaha (with some limited ROW acquisition). There are plenty of ways t...

It looks like it’ll be the entire reminder of the block.
That's disappointing, then.

My uninformed guess is that the lawsuit is just trying to extract a slightly better deal for him to get out of his lease.

I'm supposedly #waroncars and even I think they should have included some drop-off/standing zones on the 3000 block of Hennepin.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Bikes and bike parts are subject to state and local sales taxes, which add to the general fund. Cars and gasoline have specific taxes directed to roads (and some transit, in the case of the MVST) but are exempt from the sales tax. According to the Tax Foundation, a conservative think tank, user fees...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Nothing is wrong with one-lane one-ways. A few things are wrong with two-lane one-ways but they can be acceptable under certain circumstances. One-way streets with three or more lanes are completely incompatible with an urban environment.

Also, I cannot believe that in the year 2019 we are doing full rebuilds of downtown streets as three-lane one-ways.

I heard someone else at the county mention that the entire Bottineau Project Office staff has been reassigned to other projects or offices, so that seems to speak louder than a hopeful tweet.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
