Re: Bemidji

I sent them an email supporting the roundabout option and asking if there's consideration to do one lane in each direction rather than two due to the relatively low AADTs.

Re: Bemidji

So this has less than 15,000 vehicles per day. It's clear lanes are no the problem, over-access is the problem. I've always wondered why we don't see more stroad repairs where there's roundabouts or similar treatments every half mile-ish, and then full medians between each one to force right-in-rig...

OR let's just do some more piecemeal extensions, such as extending the Blue Line to Van White and Penn down Olson Hwy.

Don't they also have a number of subsidiaries such as their radio stations in the Ford Center which they redeveloped not that long ago?

Re: Hi-Lake - Minnehaha Mall (Target/Cub) - Downtown Longfellow

Yeah it's one of those things where everyone knows it's there but nobody knows what it is. I think the high-end concepts did a lot of damage because they created a mismatch between the sign, the history, etc and the concept. I've never considered it since. Either that sign has to go or the concept h...

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

Not that I particularly care how people re-route, but that seems like a trip that would be particularly well-suited to just divert to 50th at the first barrier. That's what most traffic does anyways, based on the traffic counts and matched with anecdotal observation. The Parkway is a de-facto exten...

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

Interestingly enough, I proposed left turn lanes at intersections like Cedar.... Shocker, I'm not anti-car either... The reasoning being if you had a protected left turn phase off the parkway onto Cedar, you could offer significantly more protection to the people bicycling or walking in the crosswal...

Opinion piece I disagree with and I think is based on faulty facts about the actual proposal and faulty assumptions about reality: https://minneapolisparkhistory.com/2019/06/15/closing-parkways-not-a-new-idea-or-a-good-one/ My comment, since I guess comments are moderated: Even though I frequently u...

How so? Marq 2 may not be the nicest streetscape but from a transit perspective it's truly amazing what double contraflow transit lanes can do.

Re: Stillwater Development News

Stillwater wants to buy a taxpaying business on a prominent downtown corner for up to $1.2 million dollars - and is considering using eminent domain since an agreement could not be reached - in order to tear it down and build 37 unpriced surface parking spaces. https://www.twincities.com/2019/06/12/...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Though since we're getting into the realm of fantasy, I don't think this will be a huge deal long term if we... - Build a double-level tunnel under 5th or 6th St where Blue+Green LRT is on L1 and a pair of heavy rail tracks are on L2. - Connect heavy rail on a new alignment from the NP#9 bridge and ...

Is it just me, or do others think that someday we might regret building on top of the rest of the rail trench without any provision for more passenger rail platforms?

As someone who takes the 14 the other way from downtown, trust me I kno how flaky that route is and how long it takes to get through downtown. Bus lanes now.

I know some office workers in the North Loop who do the same thing. Seems like the solution is a combination of enforcement and increased prices.

If people are circling around the block trying to find an available parking spot, then the price of parking is too low. That's a basic Donald Shoup principle.

Re: Road Geek Topics

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm also disappointed the Active Traffic Management dynamic signage was removed (and long before it was removed, disappointed they were no longer used for variable speed signage). On another note, I'd be eager to see a 10-year review of all the Urban Partnership A...

Minnehaha Scoop will be adding Dave's Popcorn here shortly. Minnehaha Ave/34th St E.
Does this mean Dave himself and the current popcorn shop at 47th and Cedar will be closing? Or a second outlet?
