Re: Gateway Corridor

Anyone else notice this? http://www.twincities.com/localnews/ci_25809013/white-house-gives-gateway-corridor-permitting-fast-track Specifically this part: The White House's recent decision also effectively moves the Gateway Corridor ahead of a proposed west metro project, the Bottineau Transitway, wh...

Re: Downtown Restaurant News

http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/print-edition/2014/05/23/buffalo-wild-wings-downtown-minneapolis-stadium.html Buffalo Wild Wings chief hints at a possible opening of a downtown Minneapolis restaurant in the area of the new Vikings stadium. Would be also great to see a Tender Greens and or Sim...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Yeah I was out in the middle of the day yesterday and saw a blue line train come into the station from the south, expecting it to go right through to the new platform. Nope, it stopped at the old platform. I couldn't see if it also stopped at the new platform two, sorry.

Re: Rush Line Corridor

If SWLRT has taught us anything, its to take claims like this with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Also, somebody really needs to explain to the east metro planners what BRT is and isn't (ahem, Red Rock).

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Slow end to end speed has to be the greatest threat to the success of this line. If they can't get these timing issues resolved then it doesn't bode well. I can't be the only one on this board using Central as a litmus test for running LRT through high density neighborhoods on its rout.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

Doug Trumm posted another article on SWLRT (and transit planning on the whole) over at StreetsMN: https://streets.mn/2014/04/17/denseidea/ Wow, and I thought they were on a nice little streak. Nearly a whole week without a 3C post! I wonder how many comments this one will get? I'll take a stab and ...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map

I going to guess that the greenway portion of the midtown corridor will be designated with a letter along the lines of an arterial corridor, just like the aBRT on Lake. If its all going in as one project and serving the same length I doubt MTC will designate the greenway as part of METRO, even if it...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

I do think we should scrap the north tunnel to save the money. Part of me also wants to still scrap the 21st street station just as a big middle finger to Kenilworth. They don't deserve any benefits.

Re: Bottineau Corridor (Blue Line Extension)

However, I wouldn't go bragging like centrals success is a slam dunk. Why not? You really think it won't be? I really don't know, that's the whole point. Central is just so different from Hiawatha that we can never be sure the same overwhelming success will be repeated. The circumstances and modeli...

Re: Bottineau Corridor (Blue Line Extension)

I'm wavering about this. The Central Corridor will be a rock star, but the next two lines seem like such cop-outs. We want rail transit, but we're not willing to make the hard trade-offs to make it good. It doesn't even seem like money is the biggest limiting factor. No public officials (Matt Look ...

Any chance this gets tied to the transit proposal? If it were rebuilt with medians, would it be feasible to simply use them as center island stops for a streetcar or enhanced bus?

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

If NIMBYs from this small of a neighborhood can delay a project and make it cost this much, I don't even want to think about how much any kind of uptown alignment would cost. Planners assumed overwhelming support and few technical challenges for the current alignment and rushed ahead. I'm not willin...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

Were there EP representatives at this meeting? I was noticing that it seems like a lot of the delay and extra cost could come from the mitchell road station. Did they have any comment on this or are they OK with scrapping it for now? On a similar vein, what was the reaction from Minneapolis? I reall...
