Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

AM rush too. To be clear, in my experiences with the AM rush hour it's not actually the capacity of the on-ramp itself that keeps traffic backed up for many blocks. It's the fact that there's just too much traffic trying to make its way through too many intersections with traffic lights. One might a...

Is there any future hope of relieving pressure at the north-bound 35th St on-ramp?

Re: Walgreens - (2650 Hennepin - Roat Osha/FirstTech)

Maybe folks should be dining at Roat Osha and paying with credit cards and passing statements on how bad the proposal is for the neighborhood?

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

In my ideal world, I'd like to see 28th and Lake become a "split diamond," leaving 31st and 26th to be calmer, two-way streets connecting neighborhoods without freeway ramps attached. This would also help spacing between 35th and 31st. Assuming you mean 28th and 35W (not Lake), that sounds ideal to...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

It really couldn't have added that much cost, could it? My hopeful theory is that they were worried about traffic queuing for the Lake St on-ramp up and down Lake St and in order to alleviate that they'd need additional north-bound on-ramps at 28th or 26th which may have pushed the overall cost too ...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

I don't understand why the northbound on-ramp from Lake was dropped. Did they ever present a rational explanation? Getting onto northbound 35W from 35th/36th is a nightmare during rush hour and makes the intersections with 2nd Ave very dangerous.

I never understood why inauthentic foods are looked down on. If you like it, you like it. I like both (authentic and inauthentic) and fully understand the difference.

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development

If them asking for property tax exemption for the stadium is surprising to you, then you haven't been paying attention. That is one of the main reasons they are going for the bus barn site in Midway. It was already tax exempt. It's also the main reason they are not building in Minneapolis. Hodges t...

The team owner planning to build a $150 million-plus professional soccer stadium in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood told lawmakers on Thursday that the project could collapse if they don’t approve a property tax exemption on the site. http://finance-commerce.com/2016/03/mcguire-warns-soccer-stadium-...

When this area is fully built out and quite dense, if additional pressure needs to be relieved is there enough room for a flyover to west-bound 494 for funneling traffic out of the area?

Re: Harriet Avenue Apartments - (2900 block of Harriet/Grand)

The greenway shades itself in the winter, it's in a trench below grade. Page 80 of the staff report shows a 2'ish story building would not shade the path on the north side in December. Again, I'm not complaining. I like the proposal. I just don't like two full blocks in a row under complete shade 2...

Re: Harriet Avenue Apartments - (2900 block of Harriet/Grand)

I thought the shadowing affect was very minimal, and only prevalent in the middle of winter? It seems like they do a good job of minimizing that impact. That's the only part about this project I dislike. Even though the issue's only prevalent in the middle of winter, with the Rana Village project n...
