I suspect this block may be limited by the surrounding crime. Not that a large project couldn't come in and change the neighborhood, but I see this more likely in areas closer to the North Loop.
Not so much crime as proximity to services for people experiencing homelessness and a pawn shop.

Re: East 38th Street & 38th St Station Development

You can certainly commute to work car-free, but this area is still pretty far from becoming a "complete neighborhood" in which you could live a full life without a car (groceries, etc.) Many residents (probably more than 50!) will still own cars here. Reidy's Market is 3/4 of a mile away. It's a li...

Re: Green Line LRT

Well, that's a journalistic mess, making the chief sound like a buffoon (no opinion as to whether he is one) and using gruesome anecdotes from prior years to discuss a supposed current trend. Took the kid (almost 3) for a brief ride on the Green Line on Sunday (she loves trains). Got on at Target Fi...

Not sure why I think so, but seems like the "cut out" with the dog walk should face the back instead of Hiawatha.

I mean, I'll take it but I agree with the staff feedback on massing. Do something to break it up a bit so it doesn't look like a giant box.

That parking should have housing built on it.

Re: 1500 Nicollet Avenue - Dominium Development - 6 stories / 184 units

Maybe one of those mini Cub Foods stores. The one in south Minneapolis is so cool. It would cater more to the neighborhood what with the density here and really wouldn't require parking. The one on 46th has a lot of parking. I'm not sure Cub gets urban stores with a lot of walk and roll up business...

Re: Future Cars: Electric and Autonomous Vehicles

I kind of view electric cars like vaping, in that I view neither as an ultimate solution, but I do see them as steps towards the ultimate goals of using lesser fossil fuels/lowering the over all carbon footprint, and decreasing the number of people who smoke. Meanwhile, vaping is how the tobacco in...

Looks like they are doing work on the 11th Ave bridge over 4th by the stadium. 11th Ave is closed as well and there was equipment of some sort under the bridge.

Sure seems like there should be room for two condo towers, given how few condo units we've added.

They've also put planters on the benches of the amphitheater in front of the Library, perhaps to try to prevent people from laying on them, but also have not removed the barricades around it.

Yeah, unless there is more space that can be cleared of vegetation or something, that actually looked pretty tight to me, especially next to a moving train.

I guess I find it more strange that it's currently zoned R5 than that it will be Interior 2 in the future, although more neighbors might help revitalize what feels like a pretty under used commercial node.

Not directly helpful: I am aware of commercially available images taken by both airplanes and satellites. Haven't heard of helicopters being used, but don't know why they couldn't be. Also have no idea where Google gets there's (don't think it's from the plane/satellite sources I'm personally aware ...

Not sure why volleyball is any weirder than other park-based sports facilities. Don't think we need more tennis courts. Apparently someone is advocating for pickleball (whatever that is), like, whatever.
